I listen to real country, not the watered-down pop/rock played on most stations. Give me Willie, Merle, Johnny, or Waylon any day. But I also like Reba, Tammy, Dolly, Tanya Tucker, Alan Jackson, Alabama, and Travis Tritt.

You guys should check out Doc Walker. Hes a young buck from Alberta i think. he has a song called North Dakota Boy, which has been high on the charts here in Canada for a while.

The only country songs i'll listen to are "Beer for my horses" and the original song, which i apparently cant remember the name right now, but it was re-released by Uncle Kracker.

edit: i think it's "drift away"?

I love country. Well, old country. 19th and early 20th century stuff. Appalachian murder ballads, sacred harp singers, hobo rhymers, insane jug bands, Civil War gospel, etc. It's all great.

If it pleases the court, here's a couple of sets that every music lover should own:

"Speaking as a typical British fence-sitting agnostic, I couldn't honestly tell you if there is a God, but here's one thing I do know - belief in God made uneducated black and white people in the Southern states of America make some of the best, most exciting, soulful music I ever heard." -- That's all that needs to be said.

I like both kinds of music: country & western. I like older stuff, Hank Sr., Marty Robbins, Hank Snow, Jim Reeves, Patsy Cline, Merle, George Jones, etc. Newer stuff by singer-songwriters like John Hiatt, Steve Earle & Buddy Miller is also great, but the power country stuff is mostly fluff pop called country, IMHO.

I love Big and Rich. I have their CD. It's not what I would really classify as country. It's got a lot of different types of music on it. Good stuff.

I like some country. I don't like the really twangy stuff, but most of the rest of it is okay.

If you don't like Hank Williams, you can kiss my ass.

what? it's a song....

I guess Im one of the odd few that can listen to country music one second then some metal band the next. Last weekend we went to see Jason McCoy and Charlie Major, which was an awesome show.
Next Wednesday were off to see Slipknot, Hatebreed and God Forbid.

I've never had the slightest bit of patience for country however in the last couple of months I've been developing a lot of respect for Johnny Cash.
