Hi,

I need to identify a german binocular. Originaly was probably mounted on a vehicle. Any clue is welcome!

thank you

Sure it´s WWII? Look at the plastic parts.

My guess would be it´s part of the optics of a tank.

Most likely a range finder, rather than binos.

Off one of Rommels Panzers, from the North African campaign.

Looks like yours is missing the end lens thing. See below.

I dont think this is a Gunnery Sight per se, but an Observation sight like whats found in a Command Vehicle or Artillery OP vehicle. There would seem to be little need to paint an interior fitting Ordnance Yellow

Thank you, this was very helpful. Do you have any original photo of this equipment on the panzer?

The data plate on top which reads - Beob-F 12x60 fur Em 4m R 40 - means Beobachtungs Fernrohr fur 4 meter Entfernungsmesser 40. In English - Observation Binocular 12 (power) by 60mm objective lens for 4 meter base rangefinder model 40.

This range finder was a component of the Kommandogerat 40 flak fire control computer.

In the later part of the war, everything was painted that sand color - no necessary connection to the Afrika Korps.

Apologies, I was just going by what I found on this website (where I found that image)

It's not plastic but "Bakelit".

I don't know it's exact designation but it's a range finder used by the Polish Navy During WWII.

No problem. To be more specific it's a part of the rangefinders used on the "Wicher" class destroyers used by the polish navy during WWII.
