Your choices please, these are mine off the top of my head -

Jaws - The first time you see the shark in it's glory... "We're gonna need a bigger boat."...

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon - The fight between Michelle Yeoh and Zhang Ziyi. Michelle Yeoh going through half a dozen weapons...

The Shawshank Redemption - As the secret of Andys escape unfolds, I don't think I'd ever sat through a movie scene in such complete shock before...

Heat - When Vincent Hanna takes Neil McAuleys hand at the end, the camera zooms out with God moving over the face of the water by Moby in the background.... Cinematic perfection..

Point blank - Where Lee Marvin wlaks down the long corridor.... Just the sound of his footsteps tells you that this is the most determined f**ker to ever walk the face of the earth...

Last of the Mohicans - the elk hunt at the beginning.... Also when Chingachgook throws that huge club / axe and it seems to be coming straight at you....

Good thread and good choices gaz.

Hmmm. Mine:
Heat...of course. The bank robbery that spills out into the street is by far, my favorite scene in any movie.

Saving Private Ryan First 20 minutes. Not many scenes have captured the violence of war like that.

The Thing Kurt Russell playing chess against the computer..."cheatin' bitch." *pours drink into hard drive*

The Deer Hunter Russian Roulette/POW escape scene. Whoa.

Pulp Fiction Pop Tarts finish. Bruce Willis wastes Travolta. Smoke alarm goes off. Perfect.

2001: A Space Odessy.

Moonwatcher, on behalf of all starving humanity, becomes the first ape-man to learn how to use a weapon as he pounds away at a pile of bones. The brief shot when Moonwatcher pulverizes the skull into dust is the most impressive.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v440/intestine3/2001_b.jpg

After a fight with rival apes, Moonwatcher tosses his weapon into the air. Scene cuts to a space station in earth orbit.

LA Confidential - The Victory motel shootout...

Se7en - When John Doe sees the dead dog at the side of the road... "I didn't do that"...

The Third Man - Harry Lime (Played by Orson Welles) emerges from the darkness...

The Exorcist - Father Merrin, illumiated in the shaft of light from the window...

Pulp Fiction: "Bring out the gimp", the scene in the back of the pawnshop.

Reservior Dogs: Mr Blonde torturing the LAPD cop, cutting off his ear and then singing into it.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off: The entire movie, but especially the part where Ferris asks the parking garage attendent if he speaks English and the attendent says "What country do you think this is?". Comic genius

Braveheart: When Melly Mel yells 'FREEDOM' as the English are doing nasty things to his naughty bits.

Saving Private Ryan: The opening at Omaha beach and then the defense of the bridge at the end.

Good thread Gaz.

way too many to list. But I'd list whatever comes to me in the moment

Taxi Driver - "You talkin' to me?"
Pulp Fiction - all of it.
Once Upon A Time in The West - Scene where Frank walks out of thr brush with his gang after killing the family. First scene where the 3 killers try to pass the time. And Harmonica's flashback.

Well come to think of it. Any film with Clint Eastwood is the coolest film moments in history. :D

Ronin-The car chase through Nice to get the briefcase.

Scarface-When Tony Montana in the office guns down Frank Lopez, the crooked cop and then steals Lopez' wife. Also at the end, when the Montana mansion is assaulted by the Columbians. "Say hello to my little friend!"

I cant remember the name of the movie, but, I think it has the word "Mexico" in it. It is an old wild west movie. In the end where the final shootout took place, the bandito asks the rancher right before the rancher kills him, "I... Would atleast like to know the name of the man who killed me...". I think that it's "cool" necessarily, but in "The Royal Tennenbaums" when Owen and Luke Wilson are talking about how Luke Wilson's character has a crush on Gwenyth Paltrow and says something like "You know it will never work between you two...and she's you're sister."
:bash:

That cracks me up just thinking about it.

Black Hawk Down - the part where Jamie Smith dies, so sad :(

Saving Private Ryan- the whole D-day part

Band of Brothers- when Spiers is explaining how a soldier must feel to be successful in combat, creepy but awesome guy.

I need to try watching something that isn't a war movie....

Harmonica: The reward for this man is 5000 dollars, is that right?
Cheyenne: Judas was content for 4970 dollars less.
Harmonica: There were no dollars in them days.

The Big Lebowski: John Torturo plays bowling...

later on Jeff Bridges is driving a car while smoking a joint....the joint slips his hand and falls between his legs and 2 secs later a screaming 'Dude' zapps the car onto a trashcan.

Any scene from the 'Big the bad and the ugly'

The Basic Instinct: Sharon Stone crossing legs...

Pulp Fiction: anytime Samuel Jackson recites the excerpt from Iezekel

The chase in Matrix 2 where Trinity is driving a Ducati...too 'digitalized' but still one of the best i ve seen so far. (Definitely not a historical moment!)

The whole 'Citizen Cane'.

i am thinking of about 100 more but i got to do some work :(

How about the ferret in the bathtub? The part when the dude goes to Julianne Moore's place and she comes flying at him with paint in the harness. Or when the sheriff of Malibu throws his coffee mug at the dude? Or, my personal favorite: toward the end...the fight against the nihilists in the bowling alley parking lot, esp. when John Goodman tosses the bowling ball at the guy, then bites of the other's ear! woot

Man, I love that movie.

Not sure if its been mentioned, but the Bad Boys II scene when one of them sees two mice having ***. "Man they do'in it just like us! he's pile-driving that B***H!" that and the third nipple from Mall Rats. ;)

The ending of "Arlington Road".

Every part of "The Roadwarrior".

And "Big Trouble in Little China" for that matter.

The scene in the original "La Femme Nikita" where Jean Reno as Viktor the cleaner is waiting in the car for Nikita outside that rich guys house, and a curious guard starts walking over to him. And Viktor calmly lowers the powered window, pumps two silenced rounds into the guard, and is calmly rolling up the window, staring straight ahead, before the guard even hits the ground.

Too many scenes in "The Big Lebowski".

The part in "They Live" where Roddy Piper goes: "I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass, and right now, I'm all out of bubble gum."

The lesbian scene with Diane and Rita in "Mulholland Drive".

Every single scene and line of Dennis Hopper in "Blue Velvet".
I.E. "Heineken!? F*** that ****! PABS! BLUE! RIBBON!"

The Danger Seekers skit in "The Kentucky Fried Movie".

When "From dusk to dawn" turns from what seems to be a "typical" Tarantino gangster flick into vampire splatter movie. Boy, I didn't see that one coming...

My goodness and my fortress; my hightower and my deliverer; my shield and He in whom I trust; subdueth my people under me. Blessed be the Lord my strength, who teacheth my hands to war and my fingers to fight.
