I know I know....not modern enough for most of you. But still...it's about war. Anyone got any opinions? Gonna see it? The reviews say it's pretty good...although I think a basic understanding of the Civil War is needed to really bring it all together.

I'm just upset they could not bring back more of the actors from *****sburg, because they are reprising all of the charaters. Jeff Daniels is back as Colonel(i believe) Joshua Chamberlin and the same actor who played his SGM in *****sburg is back, but Duvall is playing Lee as opposed to Martin Sheen who played the role in *****sburg. I'll definantly check it out though.

*****sburg was simply amazing, so long as you have the attention span to sit though 6 hours of movie. Supposedly Gods and Generals is about 4 hours long, but that's really what's needed to truly develop something like the Civil War.
I do wish they could have brought back Martin Sheen, Tom Berenger, etc. Stephen Lang, who played Gen. Pickett in *****sburg, is back, but is playing Stonewall Jackson instead.

*****sburg could have been 24 hrs long. I've would have enjoyed every second.

Looks to be a good movie. I am looking forward to seeing it. I have'nt really seen many Civil War stuff, but this looks good. Man, I'm glad Martin Sheen is'nt playing anyone, I don't like that guy.

I bet he doesn't like you either. He did a great job playing Lee in *****sburg.
He was great in that JFK movie when he got shot. Loved it. Although some definitely like him, I don't... probably more for how he is in real life than on the screen though.

Gods and Generals is 3.5 or so hours, but the DVD version is allegedly over six hours. It seems they edited out a major battle sequence from the theatrical version which will be put back in for the DVD,

a couple of southern state's u.s. senators are playing confederate generals in gods and generals. i'm pretty sure they got some bad press for doing it which is how i heard about it.

Thats pretty funny, but I think US Senators should be working on more important things, like maybe their job. But thats just me...

You mean Senators actually do stuff?

I dunno if they actually do, I see them up here alot. But supposedly they're supposed to do stuff according to that document called the Constitution.

pst....Senators basically just give the President a red or green light on whatever he wants after they ask that all important question...
"how much will it cost?" :D
