Here we go, the Leathernecks started the trend. In 10 years, soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines will need lecture on how to tell each other from enemy troops...

It's no surprise that Hurlburt Field, FL is listed as one of the testing bases, being the HQ for AFSOC.
I think it's quite a throwback to the Vietnam-style tiger stripe.

And this is supposed to break up their outline in which background? A Grateful Dead concert? A kindergarten crayon mural?

The colors may slightly match with the asphalt and concrete of air base landing areas and the gray surfaces of planes better than the current woodland pattern, But it definately will not blend in or break up their outline. Ask an Air Force PJ if he wants to be wearing that rediculous color scheme when he is trying to operate in vegetation.
Also, does the Air Force realize that they are stealing the design for their headgear from the Marines and Navy? That cap is known as a "Naval Block Cover". WTF does the Air Force want to wear a Naval tradition on their head for?

Some USAF personnel choose the 8-point to feel empowered. I agree, they look dumb. When I "cross into the blue", I know I won't wear one. I was at Whiteman AFB a week or two ago and saw one guy wearing one, and I asked him why. He simply replied, "The reg's don't say I can't."
well at least it will make em nicely camoflaged when theyre waiting for the SAR chopper down there in the sea

I actually like the new design :bash: But then again, I have always had a like for the tiger stripe pattern. :fork:
