Some guys can earn upwards of $500 a day,kit is usually privately purchased, and so is some weaponry, but in General the Employing company issues the weapons.
My company issues you with 1 AK47 short(Tabuk's)
1 Glock 17 9mm
1 Vest and plates
plus various comms kit and GPS(if wanted)
Most guys carry 5-6 30 round AK mags,plus 2 9mm mags.
When we get the M4's we will carry 12 mags per man.
All clothing and other items are purchased privately.
Blackhawk are making a fortune out of the contractor's here in Iraq, especially with the STRIKE gear,a lot of US based guys are wearing their chest rigs and attachments, and it's not exactly cheap.
We tend to be more low key, prefering to wear vest/jackets like the 5.11 over the top of our Ballistic vests.

A lot of active guys have been hunted from the BA and the IrDF as well, a pogue officer in the RIR was telling of her travails over dinner trying to stop her young blokes from leaving for pastures greener (figuratively speaking).
Quite a few reservists in Ireland who sent off CVs for normal Joe Bloggs supermarket security jobs were subsequently approached by subsidiaries of the big security companies about work in Kuwait and Saudi guarding installations but also escorting convoys into Iraq.
I wont disclose the details but the training, fitness requirements and kit did not inspire by any standards.

I know some of the guys in the SWAT team here are in Afg working at the Airport, Iceland has a peacekeeping force (about a dozen of guys/ladies), plus I know of a couple of Icelanders that have been in the Norwegian Army, Swedish Army, USMC/Army/AF/Navy, UK, Swiss Army and the French foreign legion, plus some guys here have had some security training for body guards, mostly security escort.

08-21-2004, 11:26 PM
On the right shoulder, the stars are on the right side of the flag. On the left shoulder, they would be on the left side of the flag. The idea is that if you imagine the soldier carrying a flag - which has the stars at the pole on both sides - forward into battle, then the flag would look like their respective patches from both sides. On the front, the tradition flag used has the stars on the left side, but #1 chose to use the right shoulder patch.

One reason I've heard is that people like to have the stars towards the heart, dont know of this is true or not, but makes a little sense.
I prefer to have the reversed flag on the right side of my body for example.

I was checking out a UK company (can't remember the name) they were looking for people to pull security detail in Saudi, the requirement they had was at least 5 years of military service, they did not specify what type of mil service, the same company was also looking for a security manager in Saudi, for that job the requirements were abit higher, you would have had to have been a SAS/SF

People who think too highly of their nationality/race/gender whatever tend to get arrogant, and think they're above everyone else.

i definetly am not that way, i take no offence when someone says "white pride" or somethink of that nature, it is good to have a identity of yourself as a race, as long as you dont abuse other races or cultures

Yeah which vest is he wearing? Safariland?
I have seen this vest a hundred times on blackwater employees. I know he is not BW.
These guys know that their job is high risky.
While with CIS, Chris served in the SSG division where he was an integral part of what we are today. Chris later transferred into the Executive Protection Division where he was assigned to high profile celebrities, business executives, and a number of other details where he always proved to be a valuable asset to CIS. In December of 2003, Chris was scheduled to certify as an Anti-Terrorism Officer giving him one more identifier as a trained professional; Unfortunately, this was delayed due to his selection by BLACKWATER USA to deploy for assignment in Iraq.
He was working for Blackwater in Iraq.

Been checking every vest I can find and mathing it to the one worn in pictures here.
The closest I've been able to find is this one
http://www.uscav.com/prodinfo/enlarged/26587L.jpg
Spec Ops Plus Vest w/ Full MPIII Ballistic
First Choice Armor
# Front and back 10" x 12" plate pockets
# Full side coverage with adjustable shoulders
# Concealable ballistic vest fits into rugged nylon Cordura® carrier
# Adjustable waistband with Leveler™ system
# Dual man drag strap
# CamelBak® compatible
# Carry bag
Then again these vests might be custom made for them and we will never be able to find them online.

So who manufactures the bullet proof vest?
What difference does it make,it didn't save his or his fellow Operators lives, and it's called Body Armour not bullet proof vests!!

Sorry if i'm reviving a dead topic but after reading the full 8 pages of this thread, a question came to mind. I am serious about this question so please no smart ass answers.
If the private contractors engage in a firefight, and US/allied forces are nearby, will the allied forces join in or are they legally allowed to engage?
Also, after firefights, who pics up the enemy corpses?
Are the private contractors allowed to scavenge whatever is off the corpse such as ammo, money, etc?

by geneva convention standards contractors are not to directly engage in a attack, also they cannot be the target of a attack unless the contractors engage first, but these rules are hardly ever followed by the terrorists, No one moves the dead corpes of the terrorist in iraq, I believe

Incorrect.
I think you've missunderstood the question,a security operator has a set of ROE's handed down by State as to when he can or cannot open fire.
If we are engaged with hostile fire,we can and do return fire with Deadly Force,if we also see an attack about to be carried out by insurgents again we are by definition of the ROE's allowed to use deadly force,as to being in a firefight and the Guys from Force protection helping out,it happens quite often, and vice versa..........as to the corpse's,some insurgent groups do thier best to drag their fallen away, some get left
