Thanks to Gypsum, I'm now addicted to this game. After brief stints/experiments with Staines and then Barrow, I am now the proud manager of Corby Town FC, who currently resides in the Blue Square Bet North league (I think that would put my side about 5 leagues below the likes of my beloved Man Utd.) I still have the demo, but I'm considering buying the full version.
Remember the name Ben Mackey -- the 23-yo had four (4) goals against Grantham in a pre-season friendly which we won 5-1. I've brought in Nigerian and Colombian midfielders on free transfers to give the squad some pep. Beware, Kettering! We're coming to get ya, ya tossers!

Great game.
My most recent save has me struggling to upstage the Brazilian juggernaut on the international stage, after an eight season stint at Manchester United. They've claimed the last two World Cups, and their next generation looks to be just as talented, while my struggling Spain languishes with an aging squad and no brightsparks coming down the pipeline. It can get frustrating...

What your only addicted now :-0 i was addicted when it was the orignal championship manager 1996 and so forth. Many an hr was spent searching for young talent and using the editor. Ooopps did i just say that hehe
Brilliant game welcome to sitting and playing it till 4am,just one more game , just one more oh fvck it .sadly i dont have the time anymore with a missus and work and that but go and get the full game

Come at me bros!
At the moment i'm waiting for Michael Owen to get sacked as England manager so I can take over. He's playing this ridiculous formation which means one of the best English players, my left winger, doesn't get a game. And in a recent Euro championship game he played my right-back up front! The man must be trying to get the sack!

Currently, I am managing Corby Town. 2010-2011 season saw us finish sixth in the Blue Square Bet North. Developed younger players (mostly transfers), and it paid off in 2011-2012. We finished second in the BSB North, whereupon we advanced from the semi-final playoff 1-0 aggregate, thanks to a last second goal in the second leg by league leading scorer Michael Uwezu. We won the final 2-1, again thanks to a late goal. (We missed penalties in both the semi-final and finals, which was pathetic.) Just started my friendlies in preparation for the 2012-2013 season in the BSB Premier league. Thank God for the $58K TV money we get LOL.

I have to say that 2011 is the best of all FMs. Great game and runs good also, actualy faster than 2010 on my laptop. Best players price/quality? Pastore, Cavani, Marek Hamsik, Hazard, Simon Kjaer and one more cheap/great Srna!!
Have to quit virtual football for this day.. time for the first winter season game for my team and Im playing as a R D/WB! Oh I have waited this day for a month now! First time in 2 years Im in shape and with no injuries when season starts!!!

Two games into my fourth season as manager of Corby Town. We finished 16th in the BSB Premier League with a tremendous run to get out of the relegation zone at the end of the season. Now, I have four points from 2 games in our second season in the BSB Premier League.
Question: do teams actively approach you to hire you as manager, or do you have to search on your own?

I'm currently waiting for the 10.3 patch to come out, then i'm going to start a new career game. Got a bit bored of my current one with just the English leagues loaded.

You will get offered jobs, but they don't come easily. And be careful if you go around applying for jobs while employed, because your current club may not be happy.

Thanks -- I know not to look around so I can keep the Corby board happy with me. Just beat league leaders York 3-1 to narrow their lead over me to 4 points after 11 games (I'm in fifth now, tied for most goals in the league). Gonna get all fixture-congested soon when FA Cup and FA Trophy start up :(

Well, Corby started to bore me, and I couldn't crack the top of the BSP. So, I am the gaffer for Dover. My first season, I couldn't do anything right, but on Boxing Day, something magical occurred (not sure what). In my last 21 games, I won 16 times, drawing 3 times, and losing twice. I scrambled my way up to third by season's end, and then won my playoff game (in PK's -- hilarious because I thought I was had a dominant 3 away goal cushion after the first leg lol). Then inexplicably, we lost 1-0 at home in the final playoff game. So, new season underway. I'm undefeated on the road (two games), but I have lost both my home games. Ridiculous -- I know my team should be pretty dominant, but we seem to **** everything up on our home pitch.

Dover were in the playoff mix until March, and then the **** hit the fan. Very disappointing.
A good thing is that I realize how little I really know about soccer. I've been reading various FM forums, and I've picked up a lot more pointers on how to make my team not suck. I also have realized how many choads there were on my squad that were getting paid way too much. It's ridiculous that I was mismanaging the team so badly LOL
Dover is still in the BSP, season 4 for me. I am confident we will be in the promotion mix for sure this season. Great game, by the way!

Next, you can try playing as a European powerhouse, and splurging $50m on Javier Pastore in your first summer transfer window.
I don't know what it is about AM/Cs, but you fall in love with 'em eventually. Pastore and Paulo 'Ganso' Henrique playing behind a decent striker equates to Champions League success.

I switched from solely using 4-4-2 to using a mix of 4-4-2 and 4-5-1. At the end of February, 2013, Dover is sitting in fifth in the BSP. We're in the q-finals of the FAT. Looking forward to dumping more dead weight at the end of the season.
I have some hybrid AM/C guys, but my offense uses none of the AM/C position. Plenty of AM/L and AM/R though for the 4-5-1.
WolverineBlue

Made it to the semi-finals in the FAT with a 2-1 away win against Histon. Really a heroic victory, because one of my midfielders got sent off in the first half.
WolverineBlue
04-28-2011, 08:25 PM
I should've seen trouble coming for the rest of the season after my experience in the FAT semi-final tie. I was in the playoff zone, and everything fell apart, and I ended up 8th for the season.
In the first leg (home) of the FAT semi-final, I was down 1-0, and then we ripped off four goals. However, my team went to sleep, and we coughed up two more goals. So, I head to the away leg up 4-3 on agg, needing a draw or victory to go through. We promptly fall behind one-nil, but we scored an equalizer near the end of the match, sending us on our way to the FAT final at Wembley!
Problem was, I noticed we were coughing up leads, and this haunted me for the rest of the season, eventually knocking me out of the playoff race :(
Consolation was beating Rushden & Diamonds for the FA Trophy! Glory to Dover!!!!

Dag & Red, who finished 15th in League 2, has approached me to be the head coach. They are offering the same salary as I'm being offered at Dover, and so I'm going to tell them to sod off, since I should put in one more year at Dover.

So I got lucky of course last season and won the FAT, but I have been plagued with choking in FA Cup matches. Any hints on how to keep my team from sucking in the FA Cup games, especially when I'm playing teams I can thrash from the BSN/BSS or BSP?

On the same time.. Im sidelined from real life football with ligament/nerve damage on my heel. BoooOOrinG!

Well, I know everyone is waiting with baited breath for the next update. I don't have one yet, except that Dover are about to play Bradford (League One) in the first round of the FA Cup. It should be a disaster. We are in first place in the 2014-15 season after 18 games by virtue of goal differential (+21 versus Grimsby's +19).

Promotion to League 2 -- Dover (white) beat AFC Wimbledon 3-2 in the BSP playoff final!! We had finished second in the league behind Grimsby, allowing the least goals in the league. We had the leading scorer as well :)
Wimbledon jumped out to a 2-nil lead, but then my guys clawed back to 2-1 before half-time. Then, after the equalizing goal in the 2nd half, we were able to avoid extra time with a goal in injury time by Lazaar (league leading scorer). On to L2 to get crushed!!!!

Dover's League 2 odyssey has started. We won our first league game against Stockport, 2-1 away, and then we beat League 1 Brighton in the first round of the League Cup. We then drew in the league, but then got shellacked by 5-1 by Dag & Red. What is scary is how many friggin' cup competitions we are in -- League Cup, JPT Trophy (where we're matched against Brighton again) and of course the FA Cup. Fixture congestion is going to blow, and I need outside defenders bad!!!
Our League Cup 2nd round opponent is EPL side Blackpool -- time for bunker-ball LOL

Massive upset -- Dover (white) 3 - 1 Blackpool. We were in a defensive 4-4-2 set, and we just got plain lucky on the counter. The Blackpool goal was actually an own-goal. We held a 1-0 lead at HT, and then all hell broke loose. On to the next round in the League Cup.

Lost to Brighton (League 1), whom I'd earlier beaten in the League Cup, in the JPT 1st round on friggin' PK's after a 0-0 draw. Lost to Reading (Championship) in the League Cup 3rd round, 1-0.
Good news is we're in second place in League 2. Team is really coming together, and I've been able to weather some injuries.

Big road win over cellar-dwellers Northampton. 4-3 for Dover (white) after falling behind 2-0. We sit on top of League 2 after 18 games, five points clear. We're out of all our cup competitions, and so it's promotion or bust.

As expected, a rough start in League 1 after promotion. Three points after four games, and Dover lost its first round League Cup game to fellow League 1'ers MK Dons. I need a GK, DM(C) and probably another striker, ****to!
