At one point, Capt. Perry, who was directing fire from the roof, was trying to get Sgt. Bowdler's Bradley to take down a part of the wall to allow a better field of fire. Sgt. Bowdler was standing up in the hatch pointing at the spot that he thought the captain meant because he couldn't hear the instructions well enough.
"The CO gave me a thumbs-up," he recalled. "Then I turned, and all I saw was something like a big orange tracer coming at me."
It was an RPG that hit him in the side and deflected without detonating.
"It felt like getting hit with a baseball from one of those baseball pitching machines," Sgt. Bowdler said.

Holy Sh*t! Sgt. Bowdler ows his guardian angel a case of scotch.. at the minimum, even if he only has a bruised kidney.
