" i just want my m14 "
sadly this amazing weaopn is reaching the end of its service life. being replaced by the kac sr25 in most roles.
I think the m14 will be like the 1911 or the M2 and keep on going.

I would still choose M14 over the SR25 anyday...

In the 2 newer photos the m14 has a green body. Is it an updated version?

That's a McMillan STOCK, not a body. It's a National Match M14 (or M1A depending on unit). They're great fun.
The SR25 is in no way replacing the M14. People just like it because it's "tactical" and shiny and stuff. Just like the SA M25 White Feather. Not a sniper rifle. Competition rifle it is, but hell no on a sniper rifle.
M14: Cost to the military: $0. Why? We have a ton. Well, several metric tons.
SR25: Cost (to our dealership) $5000 package with KAC rings and all
Besides, a semi auto SNIPER rifle is in my opinion a violation of a sniper's role. You really should not have a second shot. It's alot to explain. It's also painfully obvious. Shoot, oh wait you missed well just shoot again. Try it. It's a discipline thing.

Our armed forces sniper actually preffer the M14 than the other weapons introduced by the Americans, like the .50cal or the M24 / M40. I tried one when I was 14. Damned thing bruised my shoulder near the clavicel.

For the art form, I prefer the .03 Springfield. I fired it many years ago as a kid and was in awe of it. Got to fire again 2 weeks ago. I forgot how sweet an old rifle could be after dealing with FN MAGS, Galils, and M-16s. If I get out with him again, he has an 1898 Krag-Jorgensen, but not alot of shells for it.

Best battle rifle ever made IMHO . Too bad we canned it for the POS-16 .
I have the M1A-scout . Friggin love it . I zeroed it on a rusty barrel within ten rounds . It has the walnut wood stock on it , looks all nice and smooth . Fires like a dream and is a complete tack driver . why oh why did we replace this awesome weapon for the M-16 is beyond me . Makes me sad . :bash: i bash the fool in office who made the move to can it .
Can you deer hunt with one of these? Stupid question I guess, but I am still curious.....

he wanna see close and he's too lazy to put the target on the crossfix. that's why he's using red dot so he can just follow the dot close to the target :)

Thats a really good pic. Not sure what it is though. Lookin at their helmets i would say nam, or Korea. But then did they have that camo by korea? And i see the M16A1. But it dont look that old. Perplexing :| [/img]

I have seen that second from botton picture coming from the Panama war. Im pretty sure that one (the one with M14 and M-203 in same pic) is from Panama............very interesting.....Also I think one of the others is from Just Cause in Panama as well........cool......dont often see good old Panama pics on this board! Way to go.
Flicme, I also saw that picture from Panama coverage as well.........the M-14 made a good showing of itself during Just Cause.... In fact, a Navy Seal sniper used one to kill a few dozen Panamanian Guard in one nearly bungled mission.........which was saved by seal tactical skills and bravery

Early to mid 80's? Maybe reservists or National Guard?

Definitely not Nam or Korea. US didn't have complete form of the woodland BDU until late 70s and early 80s.
I would say late 80s.
They still had a lot of steel pots until 90s.
