I've got a few questions reguarding SFAS in the last couple years. How has it changed? Is it true that "Team Week" doesn't exist anymore (and uh...what exactly was it?). Also, I understand that the SOPC is going to be integrated into SFAS by January?
My last question is wether or not you can have any MOS and apply for SFAS, or do you need an Infantry related one. I always understood any MOS was fair game, but I thought I overheard somewhere that they only take Infantry MOS's now.
Thanks for the help.

you can have any MOS, except for pilot or doctor. the army decided that pilots and docs were so damn expensive to train, they didnt want them changing MOS. other'n that and youre set. nowadays a lot of engineers and FA end up in SF

Not true,
At one time the only branch that couldn't apply for SF was aviation. However, a Perscom message changed that and aviation can now go out for SF. This has been in effect for a few years now. There was a pilot in my class.

FuturePara,

Are you in the army? If so, then any MOS can apply for SF. If you're not in the service the 18X program is an initial enlistment with a 11B feeder MOS. It's true that SOPC will be integrated into SFAS sometime soon.

For your questions on team week, go read Tom Clancy's book on Special Forces. His infor is now outdated, but it does provide a limited amount of exposure on the SFQC pipeline.

Good Luck

SOPC-Special Operations Preperation and Conditioning Course..Done in 2 phases---Phase I consists of inprocess, APFT, Swim Assessment, and a series of runs/rucks. You get 16 hours of Land Navigation and Advanced Land Navigation Classes. You then got out to do a series of Land Nav PE's to include a terrain walk. The final Land Nav Event will be the 8 hour mini star( which the terrain makes Hoffman look like an open field, Just got don validating the Lanes). Once you pass that you redo the APFT and then you go to SFAS. 50% make it thru SOPC and out of that 50% there is 80% pass rate at SFAS. Once you are selected to one of the 4 18 Series MOS's you will attend SOPC II which focus's on SUT or Small Unit Tactics....Any questions...PM me
