I believe you are referring to MagPuls. The RediMag system just allows you to carry one more mag on your weapon.

You don't need a ready mag if you tape two(or more) mags together either.

How can someone on a military board not know what 90/100 mph tape is?
Because it's called duct tape.

Always assuming that you want the other mag to be half empty, 'cos the rounds are falling out and half full of dirt and **** 'cos it's been resting in the dirt.
Great for looking 'ghetto', f**k all use.

"Last one back goes again"
"It pays to be a winner, gents"
"**** me about - I'll **** you about. The ball's in your court, gents.
"Look gents, I'm in no hurry to get home - my wife's an ugly bitch . I'll stay here and **** you around all night"
Just wondering....

He's not wrong though ;)
are the actual redi-mags the one that space out the M-16-type mags so that they can both face upwards ?
I've seen them, and while i've never used them they seem like they could be a goer ;)

but if the problem is getting both mags to face upwards, all you need is somthing to put inbetween them before you tape them together.
Why pay for something when you can "macgyver" it for damn near free.

This is a Redi-mag.

The main advantage over magazines cinched or taped together is that they are kept separate. With a Redi-mag, the magazines can be changed separately, so if one empties a magazine, it can be replaced with a loaded one. One can always have two loaded magazines on the weapon. If they're duct-taped together, a user will have to changes magazines from his equipment to his weapon in pairs. Magazines duct-taped together also take up more spaces in pouches. The Redi-mag also covers up the second magazine to prevent dirt from entering.

Sounds very familiar.
We used to love getting exchange NCO's from the UK on exercise Long Look, they were always good for some new terminology.

Agreed, besides any decent rifleman should be able to conduct a mag change from his pouch in quick time and when you are only carrying 300 rounds or so you shouldn't be in such a rush to use them all.

We had an Aussie platoon commander on exchange for Long Look, Lieutenant Gerard Moody. Best boss I ever had.

I've seen them, and while i've never used them they seem like they could be a goer ;) No problems. Some duct tape and something for a spacer. Used it all the time in the army. Taping them so the second is upside down is a bad idea.

Seem very interesting; first time I've seen this system.
Attaching magazines together is quite favorable around here, especialy when not on duty with a full vest.
This is my favorite way, it allows me to carry two magazines on the weapon itself either loaded or unloaded.

at least some companies are addressing the issue of people wanting ready mags by putting clips or locking lugs on them
