M-83 Saffie assault vest question - AK-47 magazine compatible?

Are the mag pouches on the M83 assault vest compatible with AK-47 magazines without modification?

You can put standard AK mags in M-83 pouches, but they will stick out and it's impossible to secure them with the pouch flaps.

AK mags fit no problem in the chest webbing , albeit using a bit less velcro fastener. So can not see how it would not fit in the battle jacket.

The lids on the jacket are almost too short to cover a HK AR mag with magpuls, so I don't think you'll be able to use the flap on AK mags.
