Very interesting pictures. Without putting any personal values in it, he obviously stood upp for his opinion that he war was wrong - I don't think I can hold that against him.

I think it was a publicity stunt to get his name out to the public, next thing you know he's a Senator and a crappy one at that, all you have to do is look at his voting record!

these guys were vets, they served their countries and they came back and the government took a big **** on them. they were angry and seeked justice and some sort of acceptance in a country where every soldier was labeled as a baby killer by the lot who never ended up going over...

I don't criticize the people, I criticize their actions when they came back from Vietnam and painted all the Vietnam Vets as Rapists/Baby Killers and Murderers, a small number of men did this, 20,000 and and the Pide Piper at the front was John Kerry, who in his short 4 1/2 months of being in Vietnam saw it all :cantbeli: These people sold out their brothers in arms!

I think a lot of soldiers have murdered, vietnam was an ugly war, as Indochina or Algeria for us.

And the FLN war crime ? Do you think it was better ?

littlefrench

No it wasn't better. But in the mind of the civilians only the ennemies (FNL or Vietcong) did war crimes.

When I've seen many war crimes of the FLN, I can tell you that the torture were justified during the algerian war...

our legionnaires and paratroopers have tortured a lot of people (innocent people too) with electricity (like in Abu Graib :bash: )and they murdered a lot of other innocent people. It was efficient (they pacified Alger) but I don't know if tortures can be justified.

Youre invading their country, and as usual crimes comitted by all fighting parts and then you justify torturing them.

I think its all bad but the french were the agressors dude, do you justify the invasion?

If somebody did colonize my country, I as many people here would do horror things to them aswell. Maybe not torture but you get what I mean.

The main reason that Kerry has been ineffective in getting the veteran and military vote is because he is viewed as having perpetuated the image of Soldiers who served in Vietnam as being baby killers and rapists. I personally believe that he used this image for personal gain which is the primary reason he doesn't get my vote. This view is shared by most service members I have discussed the issue with. (Not that many)

Throwing your medals away? Wearing your CIB upside down? Sorry pal you lose. Lots of great people have earned those, don't drag the rest of them down with you . . .

My 2 cents as a soldier . . .

I dont know what the hell he is doing. He did put time and energy into flirting with military people who generally are considered as conservative.

I dont think his liberal people give a F if hed served purple hearts or not. If his staff were smart they would put their efforts on trying to get people who actually have liberal ideals to vote for them.

correct me if I´m wrong

if i lived in a colonized country, i would never torture...just kill....i can see them fighting back justified, but torturing and maiming people is never justified....

Good question littlefrench !

Why is this irrelevant question a good one?

Do you have to be an elected official to criticize politicians?

I served in the US Army for 10 years, but frankly it doesn't matter if I ever served or not, I can criticize his actions if I want to.
