Pakistan Defence Minister Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar threatened to withdraw Pakistani troops from the Pak-Afghan border in reaction to the suspension of nearly $800 million worth of US military aid.

In an exclusive interview with Express 24/7′ special correspondent Kirsten Seymour in Islamabad on Monday, he said that Pakistan would pull back troops from the nearly 1100 check posts set up along the Pak-Afghan border if the US does not resume Pakistan’s military aid. A move that would sabotage efforts against the Taliban and al Qaeda in the region.

He said “this money (US military aid) is not for fighting the war, but its the money that we have spent already.”

If they cannot afford to fight with taliban then how can they afford a war with India?

Thank the Lord. They haven't done anything and they should leave. Now that they're out of the way, there will be no safe haven now for AQ.

I supposed that means the US will move its troops closer to the pakistan and afghani border and step up on drone strikes.

The old saw about "cutting off your nose to spite your face" comes to mind.

It's worrying that these immature children have nukes!

This action seems more likely to harm Pakistan than anyone else.

That is absolutely retarded, we won't police our own nation unless you give me money. Extortion is what it is. Can't wait to leave Afghanistan and have the US yank the aid.

China pledges support for Pakistan in wake of military aid cut

China pledged its support for close ally Pakistan on Tuesday, after the United States announced it would suspend $800 million worth of security aid to Islamabad.

“Pakistan is an important country in South Asia. The stability and development of Pakistan is closely connected with the peace and stability of South Asia,” foreign ministry spokesman Hong Lei told reporters.

If Pakistan is unable or unwilling to execute national authority over the area, then the area passes from being a part of Pakistan.

Well, this is quite the interesting development.

Yep sure.

BTW after the floods last year the US gave something like 600 million USD as aid and the Chinese gave...................18 million USD. Even India put in 5 million.

And a Pakistan dependent on Chinese aid would probably become another North Korea.

Yep. Thats what they should be told. This kind of rank extortion from a supposedly responsible sovereign country cannot be tolerated and must be called out on.

How I see it in the new strategy of things, leave Pakistan make their own bed. Let them court China and try to gain influence from them. The US should see Pakistan as neither friend nor foe and act accordingly, a mutual cooperation treaty here and a trade deal there no problem. But massive military equipment transfers and huge financial aid should stop as Pakistan goes its own way and fulfill the desire of the Pakistani people for separation from the American infidels.

But I hope the Pakistanis understand that China wants $$$ for their military hardware and that China will demand action and severe punishment to any terrorist group guilty of murdering Chinese workers in Pakistan.

Well good luck China you will be ****ed in the future too. Terrorists from Afghanistan/Pakistan/Kyrgyzstan/Uzbekistan started to operate in Xinjiang. They want to "liberate" Uyghur people.

And Taliban/Al-Kaida see chinese people more and more like an enemy.

It's more than ridiculous. It's like Canada telling the US that we won't have any immigration and custom border services unless you give us 1.2 billion dollars first.

Pakistani's are kind of smart though. They know there will be a withdrawal of US and allied forces soon, so militants are free to roam in and out unless the ANA I hope is capable of taking the fight to them. Pakistani's really know how to extort money.

Absurd and someways funny too, apart from the fact that future many people are at stake. Anyway, I dont think they would pull out a lot, because that would give better room for USA forces to operate there.

It won't matter a damned thing, it's not like their border guards are doin anything other than scratching their balls and getting high on hashish all day long.

It's worth mentioning that the pakistani don't quite seem to grasp the concept of political blackmail.
