View Full Version : Why do you "rake" a perimeter?
ive seen pictures of israelis in a truck of sorts that rakes (ala like you would your leaves in a yard) a perimeter with a metal type plow on the side of the vehicle and also ive seen some american bases in sandy areas etc that have also had the telltale signs of this raking. what is it for? to uncover mines that patrols may happen upon? to discover covered passageways under a fence? or maybe to uproot surveilence by the enemy like detectors or mini cams? the pic i saw with the israelis, they were doing it outside a perimeter fence. ive heard it mentioned a few times but always as general talk amongst soldiers therefore leaving me no clue what is was generally for. and when would you use it? at staionary camps or just set up camps in a war effort?

If someone passes/climbes the fence they'll leave footsteps in sand.

Footsteps...... makes sense. I guess I'll have to change the topic of my university thesis. Turns out the Isreali army isn't as big into Feng shui as I thought........

The IDF (and IAF for that matter) are probably some of the best (if not THE best) at what they do. E.G. I think the IAF had something like a 37:1 kill ratio is the Yon Kippur war. I THINK it was that war anyways

It probably would not. Most ninjas I know are able to leap great distances. You could probably fly right over the raked sand.
