Palestinian Police with AKs but Hamas with M16s?

The countries around that region are awash with AKs and russian made hardware, the Palestinian police have AKs but I keep noticing Hamas demonstrators with M16s? where do they get these from? captured from Israeli troops? I doubt that.

brought off Israli's for cash. Quite a lucritive trade in smuggaling weapons to Arabs. Though the lebanise army had american weapons and training from the US as well.
