no, lol its WOPPAT :P

Way too light in my opinion. When those uniforms become weathered and worn and the fabrics fade a bit, they will be glowing in the desert sand. I think they should have gone at least a couple of shades darker on both the primary light and mid-tone colors.

Looks good, any pictures of it actually in the desert to see how it scrubs up? And they really should get the webbing done as well.

Really cool!

Italians have a way to design handy and good BDU`s, I remember seing this uniform in a particular camo, with included knee and elbow pading and plenty of pockets, is it still in use?
The camo just felt perfect for north mediteranean climate.

Actually, this was a picture taken from an old issue of RAIDS (around the end of 2001) about the GOI.

Was for me too, but not everybody knows it's not every Italian sailor or soldier that goes around with an M4/M203 and a Tiger Stripes boonie hat.....

I do recall seeing this new pattern worn by a ranking Italian officer in Iraq earlier this year. The official Iraq debut:

http://accuweather.ap.org/apdbs/Intl_Photos/views/mini/7339/7339681.jpg
(Looks like Col Moschin escort; and one Alpini? in the back, also with the new camo?) ..

Italian Army Chief of Staff General Giulio Fraticelli (wearing new camo), fourth from right, is escorted after he landed in the Talil air base prior to his visit at the Camp Mattica military base where the Italian Joint Task Force Iraq headquarters are based, near Nasiriyah, Iraq, Sunday, June 20, 2004.

Good comparison: Old & New camo ..

Italian Army Chief of Staff General Giulio Fraticelli, right, signs a guest book during his visit at the Camp Mattica military base where the Italian Joint Task Force Iraq headquarters is based, near Nasiriyah, Iraq, Sunday, June 20, 2004.

Why is it that whenever there is a picture with a woman in it, someone has to chime in with "i'd hit it".

You are all correct, the tall man is indeed an Alpino.

To be precise he is Brig. Gen. Giorgio Cornacchione, commander of the Italian Contingent in Iraq at the time when the picture was taken.
