I'm curious how tough it is to be selected to an organization such as the fbi or the central intelligence agency. For example what would it take for an average person like me to be excepted or considered by either one for the agencies and what would I have to do or accomplish or excel at in order to be selected. I'm talking about being a field agent for either organization I'm just a teenager interested in what steps I would have to take in order to be seriously considered. Also how important are grades and how essential are they to the selection process. Also say you have only a mediocre high school career but excel in college would that still get you good credentials thanks alot for your time l8a

I think it's very tough. Go to college and do well. After you get a BA/BS, go to grad school and get a Masters. Then work in the civilian world for a few years to gain some life experience. I think the average age of new Agents/Officers is 29 or 30 in both orginizations.

When I was attending college the school had an annual job fair for soon to be graduates - the FBI sent a recruiter. It is hard to predict what the needs of either agency will be in 6 or 8 years. Go to school, study a subject that you like, and do well.
