Heres the rules:

1.Ask a question that you would like answered by the major presidental candidates (Bush and Kerry)

2. You must ask both Bush and Kerry a question, but it does not necessarily have to be the same question.

3.Absolutely no flaming. No dumb questions, and try to keep snide remarks at a minimum. No questions about Vietnam. Everyone is sick of those.

4. Before answering/debating a posed question, you must create questions of your own.

Ready?

Senator Kerry, how do you plan to create affordable healthcare and education without raising taxes or increasing the already vast national debt?

President Bush, how can you run on a small-government platform when you support such big-government things such as the Patriot Act and Gay Marriage bans?

Kerry: Under what circumstances (if any) would you act without UN approval (as Bush did in Iraq)? Follow up - if your answer is "never" - does this not amount to subjugating US sovereignty to the whims of foreign governments?

Bush: would you support elimination of the IRS, and what would the timetable be?

Answers to SpazzMunky's questions.

Senator Kerry, how do you plan to create affordable healthcare and education without raising taxes or increasing the already vast national debt? My platform includes broad based tax hikes to pay for these, and many other social programs I'm proposing. It is my belief that the producers - those who've "won life's lottery" and are making a comfortable living are responsible for supporting those who have not.

President Bush, how can you run on a small-government platform when you support such big-government things such as the Patriot Act and Gay Marriage bans? I view the Patriot Act as simply the formalization of procedures that have been previously widely used by law enforcement. no new powers have been granted, and no rights lost by the people. Therefore, it is not the expansion of anything - merely a streamlining of procedure - essentially a downsizing. My support of an amendment to define traditional marriage is also merely the formalization of a historically recognized constant - to prevent the fragmentation of the institution and the various consequences of how it plays out in state law and reciprocal agreements between states. More broadly, as I have stated, my platform is not one of strictly smaller government, but one to make government work for, and not against the people. Nukya-ler. I wanted to include the word nukya-ler in my reply..it's kind of a trademark.
