Looks like we might indeed need to expand the Army, contrary to Mr. Rumsfeld's assessment.

Two year long tours in Iraq, Afghanistan, Korea, etc. will probably cause mass exodus of mid-level vets. (Sgt.s, SSgt.s, Capt.s) who will be hard to replace.

Might as well...by 2010 Canada will be lucky if it even has an army left...

Canadians can, as long as you live in the States for 6 months prior and fill out the appropriate paperwork.

Actually you can just call a recruiter closest to you and they set you up for a Green Card and pay for your flight and stuff down to the US

AFAIK the US Military doesnt help you out with immigration even though your from a commonwealth country. Actually I have talked to a recruiter...I still have his card. He basically didnt tell me anything I didnt already know. He was too busy checking out girls at the college. As for the 6months stay...I tried looking for a job down in Whitefish Montana and Dallas Texas because I got friends there to hook me up a place to stay but as of yet no jobs available.

I think on the next issue of Time Magazine they talk about how the US Military is stretched out.

UCT - if you want to join a decent army, come to the UK ;)

As a Commonwealth citizen you go straight in (assuming you pass the normal tests)...

Oh dear. Someone seems to have misplaced their sense of humour.

For those of you struggling with the concept of sarcasm, I appologise. For those of you that get it, I have to say that one of the few things I dislike about working with North Americans (and I'm afraid that includes Cannucks) is the earnestness and inability to take a 'bite' of some of them...

We have a saying - 'if you can't take a joke, you shouldn't have joined'. There is very little that a British squaddie will not take the piss out of/laugh at - and that includes our own casualties. If that offends you, sorry but we ain't changing.

Actually I have a Canadian friend who called a recruiter and they just signed him up and everything

Nah,I can take a joke. What do I care what a bunch of queen loving squaddies think?! Most of the britts I've had the pleasure of working with were on the dry side,so I should have been prepared. No harm no foul.
