Would anyone like a SFOD-D movie/tv show/etc to be made? I have read and followed Delta through CSM (Ret.) Eric Haneys book as well as Mark Bowdens Black Hawk Down and am enthralled with what these people are capable of as far as being not only the "best" (I'm aware of DEVGRU/GreenBerets/other SF) but how each person does their job in a way that the rest of us simply cannot understand.

Yeh and I can write the scripts.

Here is a weekly plot for example: good looking Delta guy single handily takes out North Korean tank division using just his trusty butter knife, meanwhile his wise cracking buddy in the newly formed SEAL team 2000 (Cyborg Division) invades France to slap them into joining the coalition of the willing.

At the end of show there is a typical American morality lesson and then the guys go play some airsoft.

Fantastic.

Well a guy named Chuck already some great movies.

The real deal:

...well as real as Chuck gets, anyway.

It would NOT be in any way intrusive or dangerous to the operators themselves but It would just be a way for civilians to appreciate the fact that our soldiers are doing very dangerous work and be more be more understanding and really just stop and say "Thank You" anytime they see a person in cammies. Thanks for your responses in advance. Nick.

NEWSFLASH: MOST civilians do know that soldiers do a dangerous job.

And Hell if I want to be stoped every 3 yards for some guy to thank me. NO thank you.

And on that TV-series idea. Maybe good, but can it be made better that "Band of Brothers"? (Btw, have u seen "A-team?)

I only hope that there wont be an inflation on military TV-series. It will end up like a soap opera on crack. Isj.

I've got one. Let's say his name is MSG. Robinson. And the story begins.
His wife and son died while taking a tour through the WTC while on vacation in NYC, while Dad stayed back at the base. After the funeral, he is sent to Afghanistan to join his teammates, who have already been there for a month. He barely talks, rarely ever smiles. He seeks the one who killed his family. I say, it would be 4 seasons long, and in the end, he finds Bin Laden, kills him, and goes home a hero.

Well, I read this yesterday:

S.W.A.T. (TV): Variety reports that Neil Moritz and Marty Adelstein are trying to turn the TV show turned film back into a TV show again with the film's same style.

and concerning an SF show, I don't think it'll happen. They pulled Profiles from the Front Line off the air after only 3 shows. Some articles I was reading about it said that pretty much nobody watched it, showing that the average person wasn't interested in watching our guys romping around some country that doesn't have running water. Probably would have gotten more viewers if they actually fired a gun more than zero times.

Doesnt sound like a completely bad idea.. How about they make a CAG show on HBO, and make it sort of like a band of brothers type series. However, instead of ww2, they do Somalia or something else.

I think the real problem is that unlike WW2 or Vietnam, none of these modern day conflicts last long enough to do a lot of shows or movies about it. When it's such a short period, the news has already covered everything there is to see, so it's hard to make stuff up.

Can Catherine Bell be in it? Cause she's hot and all.

Christ, JAG already has a SEAL Admiral sending a depth perception impaired fighter pilot turned lawyer (where does he find the time) out into the woods to find a Marine Corps Scout Sniper who had a disagreement with a newbie commanding officer and he actually tracks the guy down! Can't beat that with a rifle butt.

I saw that one. And then in the end, the lawyer defeats the sniper in hand-to-hand combat.

What about MASH that was on forever and the Korean War was "only" three years long.

How bout a movie about Grenada? I'm reading Eric Haney's book "Inside Delta Force", and I'm almost just past the part where his helo lands on a Navy ship, because it got shot to s**t. THAT would make one helluva movie.

There already is one. It's called "Heartbreak Ridge," and it's about a Marine Recon team in Grenada starring Clint Eastwood.

Not real high-quality, but pretty funny in some scenes.

So instead of J.A.G, we have a show called C.A.G?

As of now the show is only scheduled for one pilot, CBS did win the bidding war for that but as far as a full season, that remains to be seen. It won't be concentrating on actual Delta members and OPSEC will still be highly important. Casting has not as of now started but there are several people being looked at, Eric Haney is a consultant as well. The goal is June-September for the pilot but could change depending on pre-production.
Thanks to all who replied, even though it took a year.
