I'm looking for some good quality socks to go with my Bates. Right now, my drawer is filled with low ankle sweat socks which don't seem to feel right with the boots when I'm at work. I'd like them to be well padded and moisture-wicking properties would be a plus as well. Suggestions?
Thanks

Thin SmartWool socks are the greatest. Don't get he heavy kind and NO they're not hot or itchy. the have 4 different grades of wool in them depending on where on the foot it is!

Are they Smartwool hiker socks high enough? I would like them to pass the top of the 8" boots I have.

Thor-Lo's are pretty good (if expensive) but they wear out fairly quickly.
I swear by issued arctic socks in the winter and now we have a decent hot weather sock I wear that the rest of the year. Prior to that I bought Thor-Lo's.

Everytime I exit the land of the big PX, I go to SAM's, Walmart, COSCO etc and by like half a duffel of socks (actually I buy around 36 pair or so - CHEAP). Then I just toss'em after a bunch of wears. I keep the old waterproof/lined socks that came with my CW SPEAR suit and a few good pairs of Thorlo. A quality lined pair of hiking style boots will offer the needed foot protection. Then again I do not have a real blister problem even wearing no socks in wet jungles (as long as I tape my heels and little toe)
