Two films attacking Fahrenheit 9/11 director Michael Moore are set to debut at a US film festival embracing "traditional American values".

Michael Moore Hates America and Michael and Me will be shown at the first American Film Renaissance Festival in Dallas, Texas, from Friday.

The weekend event will screen 21 conservative and patriotic movies.

They reflect "pride, humility and appreciation for our great nation", founder Jim Hubbard said.

'Profound influence'

"For the good or bad, in today's America, the film industry profoundly influences the pace and direction of American cultural life," he said.

"For far too long, the film industry has used its influence to create movies advancing a world view that derides patriotism, faith, and traditional American values."

Mr Hubbard said the inaugural festival would "highlight that America is home, not to a nation of idiots as Michael Moore asserts".

Made by director Michael Wilson, Michael Moore Hates America is a documentary response to Fahrenheit 9/11, which criticised President Bush's war on terror.

Mr Wilson describes it as "a film that challenges the shrillness that has engulfed the Big American Conversation from both sides".

Aping the name of Moore's 1989 film Roger and Me, Michael and Me features talk show host Larry Elder who "teaches Mr Moore a thing or two about the second amendment".

The festival also features Beyond the Passion of the Christ: The Impact - a documentary looking at the global response to Mel Gibson's religious blockbuster.

And it includes DC 9/11: A Time of Crisis, starring Timothy Bottoms as President Bush, plus 2001's Second World War drama To End All Wars starring Kiefer Sutherland.

I agree that Michael Moore is liberal a$$hole, but why do you guys always make derogatory comments about his weight? What does his weight have to do with him being a loser, a$$ etc.?

Because moore always comments about how evil capitalism, greed and overconsumption is. Considering he boasts about his wealth, and is a uber fat ass, id say hes is a total hypocrite

Here here, I'm sure there's some starving kids out ther that could do with some of his fat, how often does he donate any of the money from his films to GOOD causes, and I don't mean the Democratic party.

I couldn't agree more.

I've never heard him boast about his wealth though, but the fact that he's stinking rich through the liberal capitalist society he lives and then critises it non-stop, is what makes him such a joke.

also because he went to Charlton Heston's house and tried to make a fool out of him, and the saddest thing is that Charlton Heston now and at the time suffers from Alzheimer's :cantbeli:

the fact that he's fat doesn't make him hypocritical, the fact that he criticises the very thing that made him rich does. I just took that out because I didn't want to make it seem like I agree with that part.

I'll believe that when I hear him say it. Let's just agree that he's hypocritical, ok? There's no need for semantics.

Just ignore him, hopefully he'll go away after this election is over.

That reminds me, did anyone hear his little quip after he was booed during the Mccain speedh at the RNC? Some reporter asked him if he was afraid because of all the booing. He said something along the lines of how he wasn't afraid of Republicans because they only sent their kids off to war!

Never said it was about food. Overconsumption is overconsumption.

Besides, you need money to buy food. More food = more money. Just another bullet in the foot.

Michael Moore's film raised interesting issues but it was also loaded. As far as an ant-Michael Moore movie? Big waste of time. I swear the more people even acknowledge this guy the more he ends up being right. There is no such thing as bad press.
