Yeah, i heard Marines from Japan were comming to Western Australi, and turning it into a major staging area for American troops involved in Middle Eastern operations...

I think its a good idea... Why should we have to bargain and shiut with germany every time we wanna move troops around. They dont want us there, so lets go somewhere that wont hassle us everytime there is something that needs to get done.
Anyone heard of Pine Gap?
That is classified as US land and is a major intel "spooky spooky hush hush" base.
No Pine Gap base = no sat relay or itel from the south east for the US.
(USAF and Aus Federal Police [APS] run the security before soemone asks).

While I was a Marine, I had the pleasure of taking part in excercises in the Shoalwater Bay Training Area in NE Queensland. That was in 1997, though. At the time, there was no talk of having U.S. Forces stationed in Australia permanently.

No, its just a part of the Echelon network ;)
