Ahh, I feel like I've been useless on these forums; not posting any pictures for quite a while. Well here's a chance to redeem myself.

As you all know, Operation Market Garden; was an allied attempt to quicken the pace of liberating the Netherlands from German control. The Operation itself was the largest airborne assault in the Second World War. The plan was to take main bridges, and hold them.

The operation failed, the allied armies who took part suffered great losses and did not end up holding out their objective. On this 60th Anniversary of the operation, I'd like to share pictures, in remembrance of the memory of those who fought in it.

LEST WE FORGET

Great pics, but the load time is a monster. Seriously it took my line quite some time to download all of them, and I doubt most folks will wait. I did a quick and dirty resize, autolevel and save for web. My web space may rebel from the download though, so feel free to save them and host them on your space. Hopefully before the dreaded red x causes me to remove them from the server.

That is a WWI Lewis gun. They might be resistance, they do not look very "profesional".
