We're back at war in Iraq - General Jackson

Gen Sir Mike Jackson, the head of the Army, has admitted that British troops in Iraq are "back at war". He is the first authoritative figure to concede that war is still being waged in Iraq, 16 months after President George W Bush declared that combat operations were over.

Yes, the reality on the ground does seem to go against the grain of official proclamations.... and the evolution of that reality has defied official projections. I only hope that the end state becomes concordant with official preferences, for the sake of all our lads on the ground and the Iraqis themselves. Time and good policy will tell.
