Everybody has already seen the new digital USMC MARPAT camo, and some the new Air Force BDUs, but what about the Army? Does anybody have any information about new Army camo in development?

I'm sure it will utilize the same basic "digital" design as MARPAT and CADPAT, but will have a different color scheme.

My guess is that they'll use the same basic pattern as MARPAT, just with different logos embedded in.

What i have seen of the new USAF BDU's is hideous... So far though theyve only shown photos of the Blue colour pattern, which is understandably ugly and impractical.

Something tells me that the AFSOC guys will try to hold on to their current BDU's for as long as possible. That tiger stripe pattern is absolutely disgusting and doesn't look too effective.

ok heres' the official scoop on the new army camo.

as of now, the army is testing out a bunch of different pattern types, for woodland, desert, and urban uniforms

MARPAT is NOT one of the patterns being tested.

supposedly a pattern type will be chosen within 2 months, and the uniform will begin to be fielded by this summer. so to kill the rumors the new army camo will not be a slight alteration of the marine uniforms. regs concerning the wear of another branches' uniform don't allow it

Hey guys.

I saw the USAF camo. It is blue. What are they trying to blend in with? Usually the ground is either brown or green, unless they are swimming in the ocean.

I guess I don't understand.

Its not truly intended to Blend in.

90% of AF personel only wear a BDU for work purposes, such as flight crews and mechanics and what-not. Only the AFSOC real requires a blending camo, as they are the only AF combat troops, with reguard to a few other units. The point is, the BDU for the majority of the USAF is only a hard-use, work uniform. So the blue pattern was chosen because it fits with the AF style. They could be anything really, even strait white, because they arn't really ment for combat, just as a "working" uniform.

thats true enough, although i think it's a bad idea. the last war has proven that non-combat arms troops can quite easily find themselves in the line of fire anyway.

also, on the topic of new uniforms, U.S. Army aviation has made itself a set of BDU style uniforms to replace flight suits. Similar in cut and patern to BDU's, the flight uniform uses zippers, has far more pockets, and is made out of the same nomex material as flight suits. This and some other changes to the regular pilot gear have been made recently to make pilots more survivable on the ground.
