View Full Version : Army Rangers
Are there any websites where I can find good quality pictures and videos(if possible) of Army Rangers in action, training, or other operations?

Haha, something like that. You're either gonna get one jacked arm and one small arm, or just fall over. But good luck with all of that. We always need more soldiers, especially in SOF units.

Yeah, thats the way it worked for me (not through the rangers though). Just make sure you don't use the flash at night. That'll get you some attention.

good advice, you didn't learn that the hard way i hope?

i didn't, some other poor sap did though. Its pretty damn obvious when you are lieing in a patrol base at 3 in the moring and all of a sudden there is this blinding flash. Yeah... not so smart. At least it was training and not the real deal.

my brothers a marine and he brought home a video that someone had taken of their field exercises. it was pretty cool, they had them shooting rockets at targets and showed bombs exploding that jets dropped.

many of the line dogs wear the R.A.C.K. but some still wear a standard LBE

correction: you hope to be a ranger and very well might but none the less it's still a hope is it stands.
ps try some one handers, loads of fun

Nathan: What was the significance of that statement? Its still a hope? Its not my #1 hope, its more of a backup plan/alternative to suicide type plan. When "the crap hits the fan" if you will..... Whats one handers? Whats standards LBE? Alice LC-2 Y Suspenders, LBV, ELBV, and MOLLEII's FLC?? What do you guys think is the best MODULAR vest? RACK, MOLLEII FLC, SPEAR ELCS, RAV?
I think I like the MOLLEII FLC because its used by infantry and SPEAR ELCS becuase its used by SF although it isnt available. The RACK/RAV however, I have yet to check it out
Thanks

Adam,
The FLC sucks, period! The RAV on the other hand is amazing.

I agree with Nelson. Just about everyone I know doesn't like the FLC. It doesn't destribute the load very well. I'm a bigger fan of the RACK personally. I've never used it in the field, but it seems like an excellent system.

I dunno, from what I'm hearing, isn't the 75th Ranger Rgt. getting rid of RACK? I agree it looks like a great system, but apparently it doesn't perform well on the field (unless I've heard from a bad source).
Any MOLLE II equipment is crap, with the exception of Interceptor. Poor weight distribution and shoddy construction. Specialty Defense just doesn't seem to make durable equipment....
In my opinion, the RAV is probably the nicest piece of modular gear out there, though I wouldn't use it outside of CQB/Direct Action. When it comes to an LBV/chest harness, I've heard wonderful things about the Tactical Tailor MAV. I'd like to see how well the new Blackhawk STRIKE performs though.

So what are all the vests/systems the Ranger Regiment is using? Heres what I know so far:
ALICE LC-2 Y Suspenders
ALICE TLBV
ALICE ETLBV
MOLLE II FLC
RACK
SPEAR ELCS
Then you have the non-GI gear made by BHI, SOE, Tac Tailor, Paraclete(RAV) etc.. Anyone got anything to add/delete/correct? Thanks!
dude u should have signed up for the Marine the marines are better :backhand:

Most guys are just using BALCS Ranger option and attaching their RACK pockets to that. Or they are using MOLLE pockets on their BALCS armor. For those of you who don't know BALCS is the body armor portion of the SPEAR system. The ELCS is the load carrying system.

Bob the Canadian thinks the Marines are better then 75th Ranger RGT. Which they are at somethings, like amphibious warfare. But if you're talking about performing any of the SOCOM missions (DA in particular) you're going to find that the Rangers are better trained, manned, and equipped for these sort of missions.
Also, who cares how gay or not gay a uniform is, as long as it works.

Nelson: About the SPEAR BALCS "Ranger Option" are you talking about this: http://www.specwargear.com/armor&vest.html http://www.specwargear.com/images/armor&vest-ranger%20spear-1.jpg
Are you folks aware that Rangers consider anyone that uses a hip strap on a pack to be a total poosy? They cut them off of their packs. So no matter how well a pack distributes weight, if you're a Ranger it's all haning off your shoulders anyway.
Oh, and Bob, you don't know fooking sheet. The only Marines that would even come close to being on par with Rangers are Recon Marines.

Jack, any Marine that is/has been deployed with a MEU(SOC) is pretty much on par with a Ranger, minus the airborne capabilities. Recon Marines would be even further trained past Rangers, though they serve a different purpose.
You obviously don't know dick about Rangers or Marines. Just some background. I was a 1st Batt. Ranger and my brother-in-law is currently with 2nd Recon Bn. He's actually a Hospital Corpsman in the Navy, but if you know anything about anything, you'll understand that. This having been said, I'm pretty sure I know what I'm talking about better than you, and the other 15 year olds that dominate this site.

Here are the facts about the Ranger Regiment and the Marines' MEU:
75th Ranger Regiment: http://globalsecurity.org/military/agency/army/75rr.htm
Marines MEU: http://globalsecurity.org/military/agency/usmc/meu.htm
I have yet to read both of those and offer a comparison

We'll all hold our breath as we wait for Adam's (the amazing airsofter's) expert opinion on the worth of 75th Ranger RGT. As for the hip strap, that makes alot of sence. If you yank on the bailout straps on your ruck, but still have the hip belt buckled, its going to rotate around your hips and slam into the back of your knees.
