there are some weird, vague rummors - but the fact is that sometime in the middle of 1987, a civilian airliner landed in RAF Mildenhall airbase. Onboard were over 200 arab-speaking civilians, all severely injured: gunshot wounds, severed limbs, etc.
The PJs on alert were te first ones to get to the plane and evntually were the only ones to handle the scene. No local civilian emergency services were involved.
This info comes from an interview with a jewish ex-PJ emigrated to israel and joined IAF's CSAR unit 669.
because of the irregular conditions, he says, the PJs had to work on the wounded for 12 hours with interpreters, to understand what they say (none of the passengers spoke english).
So - if anyone knows anything, i would like to get some more info on this one.
