Great photos gents.

Various images from opening ceremonies of Saber Guardian 2013, a U.S. European Command Black Sea regional exercise planned and executed by Romanian Land Forces and U.S. Army Europe. This is the first time these Black Sea regional countries (Romania, Bulgaria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Republic of Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine) have come together to train and exercise their battlestaff and command post procedures at one location. Serbian and Polish Land Forces are also participating to enhance their relationships with these Black Sea countries. There are more than 150 training audience members, support staff and contractors supporting the training at the Romanian Land Forces Combat Training Center in Cincu, Romania from 15-25 April. During the day of April 18, 2013, the 5th Combat Engineer Regiment was given the task of assembling a raft (floating bridge) in the St. Lawrence vis-à-vis the Marina de Portneuf River. This task was to connect two platforms (center) and then add a ramp on each side to improve accessibility. A variety of specialized tools was used for assembly.

Hmmm, DSS: "The U.S. Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) is the federal law enforcement arm of the United States Department of State. The majority of its Special Agents are members of the Foreign Service and federal law enforcement agents at the same time, making them unique."

Protects embassadors, protects visiting heads of state and dignitaries, protects the Secretary of State, and a variety of investigations that generally involve overseas work. 2000 agents world wide. Were responsible/involved in the capture of Ramzi Yousef.

source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diplomatic_Security_Service

I guess they just needed some more manpower, so if you're flying in an FBI team why not send whatever DSS agents are nearby and available as well? I'd guess that their service doesn't have sets of camo/all-black gear, being as they'd never have occasion to wear it with the types of things they do and the places they go.

Well, those FBI guys are the tip of the spear for urban combat, so I'm surprised by their gucci gear. In terms of camouflage: the metro swat is wearing UCP, which is a good choise for urban warfare. The cape cod swat is wearing green, which is a very effective colour for suburbs. The state police is wearing MARPAT, ok that a bit gucci, but it's one of the best camouflage patterns in the world, so at least it's a good choise. The black is a little old-school and doesn't offer any camouflage sadly. All in all I think most of those units chose a camouflage that suits their AOR and that's a good thing from a military perspective. It's better than just have them wear a single uniform for all enviroments. We all know that the US Army failed at that point by choosing UCP.

So we have police teams in the following flavors
multicam
MARPAT
ACU
OD
black

What a bunch of fashionable groups, those multicam guys have some of the latest and greatest looking helmets. Wonder when the budget cuts will be hitting LE agencies.

In the field of fashion US is like Russia, every team have own uniform. I like IDF uniform, reasonable, cheap, simple and without every kind of bling-bling.

Secondly holy-**** at the sheer-level of equipment these departments have. I thought seeing an EOTech on a tear-gas launcher was redundant: The only thing they forgot to bring to this fight [against Chechen militants] is a Russian BTR-80 along with a few RPGs (of course with thermobaric warheads) for safe measure...

I still think that's kinda BS. They're police, not military, and I feel like the line keeps getting more and more blurry, a trend I'm not a fan of. I understand the need for militarized elite police units but I still think it's kinda BS that they're basically wearing military gear. I can understand black, I can understand blue, I can even understand OD or FDE, but UCP, MultiCam and Marpat? That's pure gucci, considering the distances they operate at the usefulness of these kinds of patterns tends towards nil.

Amazing! A 19 yr old wounded terrorist successfully evaded the FBI and numerous Boston and MA LE agencies for nearly a day and survived two firefights (would be three, but it appears they ambushed the MIT officer), one of which resulted in the near fatal wounding of one officer and the death of another. Yet, we got all these tactical teams cheering and patting themselves on the back when it was a old man that found him after they quit searching. Also, despite all the carnage from before, they get into another shootout with him and they decide to take him alive?

Really? A 19 y/o dude that NEVER left the country and will have rights to an attorney and all the rest pretty soon, was worth taking so many passive techniques? Our LE has killed people for far less, but it was deemed so important to keep this guy alive? The real intel died with his older brother and for this dude to still be alive says a lot about our LE and federal agencies. Pumping your arms in the air after being fooled by a 19 y/o idiot is just flat out ridiculous to me. People cheering and acting all nuts over the "arrest" seem to don't understand how much of a failure this is for not ending this sooner and for the FBI to not have taken his older brother more seriously as a potential threat.

All that HSLD s**t they were wearing and the fact that Dunkin Donuts was open, did not equate to them taking this guy down like they should have given the amount of manpower dedicated to capturing him, the fact he was wounded and bleeding, and hours of broad daylight. Lastly, thanks to Homeland Security for buying up all the damn ammo, it is nice to see it wasted in a firefight with a 19 y/o that was able to live and not be stone cold dead.

The FBI has to deal with a countless number of "potential threats" if they dont have any hard evidence I guess they cant do anything about it however he was denied citizenship it seems due to the fact that he had gone back to Chechnya and Dagestan for 6 months.
As for all those units involved these guys were lobbing homemade grenades and explosives, i personally feel like it was good to be cautious, idk if all that equipment was necessary but if you have it you might as well use it

Ha, funny. Not really. No need to be patronizing. There's a reason why the Israelis still use OD and there's plenty of literature out there discussing the practical advantages and disadvantages of camouflage patterns vs solid colours.

In this particular instance camouflage material might look silly, but their range of activities might extend to longer distances. You don't know, stop judging and saying what they should and shouldn't use.

Ha, funny. Not really. No need to be patronizing. There's a reason why the Israelis still use OD and there's plenty of literature out there discussing the practical advantages and disadvantages of camouflage patterns vs solid colours.

Yeh, because it's cheaper. They prefer to spend money elsewhere. Camo is issued to units that need camo, so your argument is moot.

What line is getting blurry? If the "line" is getting blurry, why did these tac teams try to talk him out? Why was the second set of hands on this guy a medic who set to work saving his life? If the cops are acting like military, why not toss a frag in the boat and call it a day? Or back off and let a gunship vaporize it or a drone? Oh, that's right, because the cops acted like cops and didn't have Rules of Engagement but stuck to a use of force policy that required them to use deadly force in response to an actual threat.

You think camo clothes affects how these guys operate? Camo is pure gucci for LE but not for the military? These teams operate in urban, rural and suburban environents they should have the most useful gear that increases officer safety for guys operating in high-risk ops.

thank you for being the voice of reason yet again.
As for the gear, some officers buy their own stuff.

Shut up. No one cares about your dumb opinion.

I don't care if you or anyone else cares about my opinion, only that you respect it. If you have a counterpoint just write, not run your fingers typing nothing.
