Hmm, what do you mean? My ACU-loadout consist things that I like to wear. I yust don't like to wear body armor (I've used RAV, interceptor, fsbe etc.) because they are damn hot and hearing/feeling bbs is much harder.

You loadout is fantastic. I would add that you need to unblouse yourshirt and get some acu knee pads (although yours are fine) and I would move your pouches away from your rifle arm so that the bulk of your body armor isn't to much trouble. Or maybe get a FLC! BUt awsome loadout..

Well I know I can identify any woman from behind, so now it can apply to men too.
M4 S-System (chinese one from www.gunnerairsoft.com; damn! good stuff! OK, I had Fungh drop a Marui motor into the thing) shorty (like 10.2 barrel), with regular M4 front sight and stock. I painted it desert yellow and light sand. Vert grip, aimpoint and Acog.
TM M16A2, but im turning it into an M4 RIS shorty soon.
No pistol yet, because I havent been able to play in over a year; im planning on getting a WA Kimber (as soon as the airsoftgeek in me beats the sensible, economy-logic Me).
Now Im in the "PMC-phase": khaki pants, hiking boots, tan bulletproof vest replica and gloves and a cap.
Im trying to start a SEALs in Afghanistan team, but noone seems to have real interest, so Im probabily going back to woodland in a few months, wich is the smartest thing to do, given the sites I play at.
Ill post pics as soon as i can.

I decided before I went to Iraq that I was going to make sure that I had all the latest pouches and rigs that I could possibly buy. When I got to Iraq I realized that I had spent WAAAYY to much money on a bunch of sH*IT that I DIDN"T need. When I got there we were issued the level 4 SAPI plates which added an extra 10lbs to what we already had to carry, and after spending a full day in 115 degree weather doing cordon and searches and getting into fire-fights I decided that I was carrying WWWAAAYYY to much **** for no good reason. The first thing I ditched was that damn camelback...it's a good piece of equipment but the reality is that a bottle of water shoved into my cargo pocket was a lot better that carrying that damn thing on my back. Second was Ammo..I always thought that the more I carried the better..WRONG, I went back to carrying a basic load 7 mags, THATS IT..I NEVER fired more than 4 mags in any given engagement, and we were ALWAYS close or near our Strykers..so all the extra ammo we needed and water was readily available...the only times I ever carried a bunch of extra sh*IT was If I KNEW I was going to be out and away from the vehicles like in an overwatch or something...I would carry an assault pack with extra food, water, ammo, a claymore, batteries you name it I had it. But for the most part I realized that simplicity was the best policy. Don't mean to rant..I know this is different from actual combat..I was just wondering why you guys carry so much gear.

TacoDelRio
10-17-2006, 02:16 AM
The PEQ's just hold batteries.
To possibly answer your gear question:
In airsoft, folks like ot have "impressions". As in, some guys do a Navy SEAL impression from the Vietnam era, and another dude does 10th MTN from the mid 90's or whatever. Or private security contractors, etc. You name it.
So, often times you'll find guys carrying a heavy buncha crap out where they'd physically be better off with less stuff, like in the mountains or something.
I personally go the simple route. But then again, I don't have much money, and I'm a ****ing n00b since I've only halfway been into this crap for a little over 8 years. I had a load of crap until I joined the Army, etc, and now I carry less.

I actually learned the same things in airsoft. I went out the first time with a USMC recon loadout with FSBE tons of pouches and even replica plates. By the time I was playing for about half hour I was so exhausted and wanted to just throw ammo in a cargo pocket and just play like that. So now a FLC with 3 mag pouches a utility pouch and a camelbak is all I use...

X2 on the excessive mags stuff.
I carried 21 mags at one game.Last time I did that.Only used 6-8.
A lot of it is "impressions", sometimes its pure gearwhorism in airsoft.
At least Im a gear whore in a sense.
IN reality ,I need maybe 3 triple mag pouches,a med pouch and a admin pouch to hold my keys/wallet and stuff.Maybe a nalgene bottle somewhere.
But at the games IM attend, its fast stuff, so we have breaks anyway.
If I was going to do 24 hr stuff, I would take a pack of some sort.

A good budget for a good airsoft rifle (electric, full auto), an "AEG", would be about $500. I'd suggest a Classic Army M15A4. Have had three, no problems.
You already have gear till the end of time.... so I guess you'd really just need some magazines. $25 or so for "standard" mags that hold 68 rounds, and $40 or so for "high caps" that hold 300rds+, but they rattle around loosely inside the magazine body.

I was just wondering why you guys carry so much gear.
As said before it all depends on what your there for. I know some guys who use airsoft as an alternative to the gym, so they want the heavy load. For me, I don't like stopping halfway through a day and retunring to 'basecamp' to reload my magazines, so I carry a full load (12) plus one in the gun. I carry a hydration pouch for water and 3 equipment pouches for smokes, and mre broken down and a few extras like a leatherman, a compass, a flashlight and other such stuff.
One thing you will find if you use "standard magazines" (usually 68-100 rounds) you will need more magazines to equal the same amount of real life ammo, as AEG's are less accurate and its very easy to blow through alot of bb's when trying to engage someone at the exxtreme edge of the aeg's range.
Remember also that the types of games play may be bassed on real life, but they are certainly far from it. It sounds like most of the engagements you were in were over and done with very quickly, wearas in airsoft people generally go to a spawn point and 'respawn' and come back into the game, so you'll be getting waves of people comming at you, also increassing your ammo requierments, and since we don't have a stryker with extra ammo, you have to carry it with you.
One thing you should definatly get is a dump pouch for your empty magazines as they are expensive and although most people are honest if they find one, they are easily lost.

Heat and Body Armor are a ****ty combo, insta-sweat, hehe. When me and my buddies play airsoft, we carry only what we need. We add weight to our kits to simulate what it would weigh. But then again we use airsoft to train and stay sharp. If someone wants to carry 20 magazines, then he's getting a few pounds added. When we do a Real-Mil game anyone that wants to play has to add weight or drop stuff to lose weight. We have some people come out with 35 high caps and bitch when we tell em to add the weight, because they wouldnt carry anywhere close to that much ammo on them. I usually roll out with 10 30 round magazines, 2 smoke grenades (real), 2 extra Pistol Magazines and my Radio. Anything more would be to much bulk.
Death.
10-18-2006, 04:15 PM
The fancy gear looks nice and all but it's a bitch to move around in, and in Florida it can kill you with the heat.....for now I stick to my cheapo 40$ ripoff vest but even that isn't the most mobile thing ever. I try not to carry any useless stuff during games (canteens, bladders, bags of ammo, extra gas, keep all that in the trunk) But then I see go out there with helmets and kevlar **** and about 20lb of extra stuff they wouldn't need in an airsoft game, and then they complain about "damn it's hot, I'm tired, blah blah" and you kinda look at them and think "jee I wonder why.."
Sometimes I won't even carry one of my guns through the game, ie if I use an AEG I'll probably leave my glock(s) in the "staging area" or whatever you want to call it...carrying a lot of stuff in a game just means you have that much more **** that can be lost.. I speak from experience, hehe.
And yes, I can see how for example in iraq, that it's necessary to wear 20lb of protective gear and stuff that is a neccessity, but in airsoft, that same stuff is kind of overdoing it.
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y68/Kevin-/a9cc8494.jpg
This is an example of what I would bring in my car, but I definately wouldn't run around with all of that on...I never wear the kneepads, only wear the helmet when it's cold, same for balaclava, nor do I usually wear the jacket of my ACU, don't carry the 2 propane tanks on me, hell sometimes I take the buttpack off the vest and leave that behind when playing..I wouldn't wear that vest but since it has some useful pouches on it it lets me have all my of pistol mags (7) and easy to reach places, personally I don't like putting mags in my pants pockets because they bounce around and sometimes fly out.. <.<
Oh and, **** yes that's a wooden duck on my window sill, bring it on.

It's a lot quicker to insert your finger on the trigger than switching safeties during engagements... believe that.

If you're disciplined, keeping your finger off the trigger will reduce accidental discharges while barely reducing your reaction time.

As Roanoke said, if you're sure that what you're aiming at is what you want to destroy and you are sure that the area behind the target is clear (I mean there are no friendlies or something very important) you can put the finger on the trigger and fire.
And that's what happens if you are a dumb policewoman and you keep your finger on the trigger.

By holding the weapon by the carry handle it isnt pointed in a safe direction (straight up/down), so it actually does make sense.

You guys said you shouldn't carry the M4 by the carry handle, does that also apply to a G36C? When you hold the G36C by the C rail it tilts at a 45-60 degree angle. Would that be pointing in a safe direction? I can judge for myself but I want to hear the opinions of others.

10-22-2006, 03:50 PM
When you carry a loaded gun, you always have to make sure it is pointed in a safe direction - and in almost any case, that's the ground before your feet.
Now try doing that while you carry a gun using a carry handle that's parallel to the gun's barrel - it won't work, so you don't do it.

Depends on the carry handle. Removable handles are ****e to being worked loose by carrying where as fixed handles are of no issue. Carrying your rifle by the carry handle is plain ignorant. The rifle is no where near a ready position for contacts, it is not under complete control by you the operator and the rifle can be carried with the SLING. Get one and use it, otherwise carry the rifle in some other fashion other than using the carry handle.

They work really good with a specter drop leg system, better then expected :). I've chosen for a m12 just because it protects the gun from dirt and sand.

btw, I use M12 on my woodland setup, leg-holster only collects the dirt so I keep my piston on my belt nice and clean, doubly I'm going to be in a high speed situation in there, so the slowness of M12 isn't critical factor.

Your the same guy that points guns at people and says "What? its not loaded." and then either shoots someones eye out (airsoft) or blows his head off (real). Its the concept not the weapon. You want to minimize risk in either case and that is why you treat all weapons (real or fake) as loaded and you dont point them at people (like you would if you carried an M16 by the carrying handle.

You will defenetly pick up bad habbits with anything that resembles a weapon. It becomes muscle memory. Ever scene the average child play with nerf guns and water pistols? They would kill people accidently left and right if they were real weapons. Natrually your mind wants to put your finger through the trigger guard, or hold the gun by the "carry handle". Gun safety is taught to all ages for a reason. People who are taught gun safety will apply it to anything resembeling a weapon, because like I said, it becomes muscle memory. They may just be toy guns, but they are still guns and still have the chance of hurting someone.
