This is my loadout for now as I am selling my regular MOLLE gear to help fund a CA M249. I also usually rock desert MARPAT but the set I have is my recruiters.Tomorrow I am playing at a paintball field so I am debating whether I should wear the marpat. The paint is washable right? Has anyone ever had issues with paintballs and real marpat? Im just a bit precautious cuz its not mine. Enough talk here are the pics

Paint is washable but you should do it right away otherwise it'll stain.

And is that duct tape on the back of your drop holster? I'd suggest something such as gun tape instead.

I like your loadout DUCKIE. Its simple but still effective. What kind of goggles are those?

DUCKIE
08-26-2007, 01:19 AM
Lerch- I start playing around 10 AM and stop at 4 PM getting home around 5 PM so I would be able to wash right away so I guess I'll stick with my Sgt Grit T shirt and ****ies. Yeah its duct Tape, everything right now its being put on hold so I can get a SAW so that will have to wait.

Working Class Hero 134- The goggles are Arena Flakjaks, if you search that name on google you should get a goggleoverstock website that sells em for $12. Thats where I got mine. Great deal!!!

Thanks for the complinments and advice!

ALICE is fantastic- you can get whole basic gear sets for $20 and just add gear for a couple dollars. Not to mention it is battle tested as well even though we have moved on to other tactical configurations.

Looks great! All I'd suggest is getting that musette bag adjusted higher on your back and swapping out the luggage strap on the M1A1 for something a little more WWII ;). And well done with the OD canteen cover; too many khaki nazis insist only OD#3 gear was used for the invasion.

Where'd you get the M42? Is your webbing a mix of repro and original?

yeah, I didn't see how low the musette was unitl I saw the pic.
I bought my M42 at http://www.captzak.com/, geat guy, low low prices.

the only thing close to original is the fist aid pouch, and canteen with cover.

this is only a secondary webbing, that I loan out to people that want to try WW2 airsoft. my main kit is based around the M1 Garand with cartridge belt.
I'll post a pic of it when I get my Garand AEG, thats on the way now

Thanks! Ive been debating buying a PACA since it was suggested on another forum but Im not sure since it would be pretty warm and Im wondering how much it would hinder my movement. I was trying to go for a light first line based loadout but with the BOAR and the TAG M4 pouches on the belt, it didnt work to well so Im going with this. So is there anyone with experience with PACA's that could tell me about how warm they get and if they restrict mobility, I live and play in San Diego and it can get pretty warm so I dont want to add much more heat as I am going through 4 plus liters of water for all day games.

Once again, Thank You!

maybe he's trying to tell you guys something.

Something like: you guys play war/ combat, and dont know nothing about beeing in a real hot zone, and gettin through that **** fo real.

its just my guess lads, dont blame me.

Maybe some of us know something about it too... so stop this ****!!!!! and if you hate airsofters so much why dont you stick to your own forum instead of spraying your poison here... (not to Blackburn)

I think i speak for all of us here when i say that we respect the ones that serve around the world, but most of us are not posers, we just like to airsoft.

And just so all you haters know it, here in Norway we have a very good relationship with the Army, we have some relatively large games here every year and the Norwegian Army let us use their facilties and CQB training fields...

I agree that there are people who take this hobby too seriously to the point where it becomes laughable. I just enjoy the activity for exercise and organization, not in any way trying to "make" believe or state it comes close to the real deal. Some airsofters take it too far, but don't lump of all us into this category.

If I'm not mistaken, there was an article regarding recruiting efforts at some airsoft/PB facilities by the armed forces, so at least it does give people the opportunity to make some contacts there.

There are worse things people could be doing with their money anyways...

Its the minority that makes the majority look bad. The ones that feel the need to buy all kinds of stuff so they can look exactly like a SEAL or SF are the ones Im talking about. Rather than wearing something unique and that works for them they would rather spend the money on what works for someone else.

I've worn the gear that the high speed units wear and alot of it doesn't work too well for me. So you know what I do? I use MY gear that I have configured to be perfect for me. Personal preference plays a big part in gear selection, not which units use it.

Oh ****... I best go find a recruiter .

Ever considered people have other jobs that don't involve the military?

Y'know, growing the food you eat, running the banks you save in, running the stores you buy stuff from?

What there are other jobs apart from the military?:bash:

The other thing is: if you dislike airsoft for whatever reason, that's your business. I personally don't enjoy other sports/hobbies, but I don't make it a personal crusade of mine to lash out against them at any opportunity.

Whether or not you choose to join any of the armed services branches is entirely up to you. Just because you enjoy playing airsoft on the weekends doesn't mean you should enlist. One doesn't equal the other. I would think that there are more profound reasons than that for fighting for your country.

Nice kit duckie. I would recommend getting some MALICE clips from tactical tailor to hold those canteens on. They are much more secure than normal ALICE clips, and fit MOLLE webbing better.

Thanks for the adivce but the canteens are soon to be replaced with nalgene bottles and covers. Hydration was put on hold while I got my first and second line main platforms sorted out. Its basically done minus a MICH, Camelbak and nalgenes for longer games.

Not found, just a guy that makes them out of AGM M14 and spear Garand part

it's not perfect, the custom Clips are hard to make, and they stick out about 5cm from the gun, the mag release is still there but can be cut down, and ofcourse the selector swich is still there.

the thing cost $662 with shipping

Before, I was using Webbing, I assumed all rigs would bounce when running I assumed that all rigs constricted movement, needless to say these assumptions were blown out of the water quite savagely.

The only thing I'd change about it would maybe get the "bravo" version from Daves that has the extended molle area where the nalgene pouches are, just so I could hold some more utility type stuff.

But on the whole, it worked really well, nice and tight to the body, hold the mags really well, doesn't get in the way of crawling.

Yeah they do, normally wear blue overalls, black vest and helmet with that weird desert cover.
Well they used lighter blue untill the mid 90's but they seem to wear a darker black, almost black now. Hence the light blue overalls and the G36C are an anachronism as far as I know. Also the helmet is not the right one. Cos it's only "kinda" who cares.

Btw the "weird desert cover" is actually BGS Sumpftarn, like Bernd said, so forget about the desert since "Sumpf" means swampland.

As far as the helmet goes, i don't speak german so don't know it means swamp, and describing it is desert like seems pretty fair, as it is yellow with brown patches. Why did they used to wear this coloured helmet BTW?

Check out this post, shows GSG9 from this year, and they seem to be wearing a mix of lighter and darker navy blue coveralls:

Yes, that's right of cause. I didn't remember the pics from 80's and 90's.

They used the helmet covers too break the outlines, but maybe the wanted to express how special there are too. They stopped using it, while some SEKs of the Länder still use camo helmet covers, mostly Flecktarn and even Belgian Jigsaw. And the light blue overalls look more like grey to me, but I won't split hairs.

It's a pity you don't speak the beautiful German language, there's a Wikipedia entry about Sumpftarn.

Yes, Cat Crap is the brand name. Strange name, but catchy. I do remember reading a post on a different forum where a guy asked basically the same question, got the "Cat Crap" answer, and used actual cat $hit on his goggles. He wasn't impressed with the results.rofl

The Cat Crap anti-fogging compound comes in a little red container about the same size as Carmex lip balm. You use a finger or cloth and rub it on your lenses then buff it off. I'll try it on a pair of mine and see how well it works. I just bought it last week, so I haven't had a chance to use it yet. I'm hoping it is the Holy Grail of anti-fog compounds as many others don't work well.

Well, I tried the Cat Crap this weekend at a match, and it did ok. Not great, but did help some. It was humid and I was sweaty and I think that combination just overpowered the Cat Crap. There was water running down the inside of the goggles, which made it near impossible to see. I think I'll have to try some different goggles.

if you make a paste with a bar a soap and a little bit of water it also works well, rub the paste on the inside of the lenses let it dry then buff it out. You will get little stars on the lenses if it gets over powered by moisture but you can still see clear enough too be effective and its not as bad ass fog.

Here's another crazy uniform I've been working on. It's another Resident Evil inspired uniform, this time I'm using a post-Vietnam ERDL camouflage jacket (pattern that preceded the M81 woodland we all have come to love). With this jacket, I added a spare trouser BDU pocket to the right shoulder which should come in handy in terms of holding extra items. Also pictured are a pair of Waffen SS blank collar tabs, a generic skull patch, and two Umbrella Corporation patches on the BDU pocket.

I'll be using this BDU with my M16A1 and ALICE gear set.

Yes the shirt is Arktis Hot Climate Shirt CE.I used it all summer here in Japan (with the Badges!!). I found it a great shirt, but when you get it first it is not good to use out of the pack.Wash it a few times to make it softer.

When i was in the PDF we only had OD.

As for the Barret, I have had it a very long time it has seen many things in its time.rofl
Many people dont know this but Arktis made the first DPM Smocks for the PDF. But it cost to much and did not go well in the summer months.
Now Web-tex make them i think, they may have changed again i am not to sure.

At some point some one will point out that the Rank slide is not right for an old timer like me and they will be right. We used to wear big red strips on both arms which you could see for miles. These are a gift from my old CO. before i left for Japan.

I want to thank Larch for the heads up on the Rank. I will keep them covered the next time, Thanks mate!!

Wish everyone in my area wore multicam, they'd stick out like a sore thumb and become even easier targets ;)

But seriously tho, the kit looks pretty good to me, just looks very uncomfortable for some reason, maybe it's the "oops, I s**t myselft" -stance. j/k
Still I wouldn't feel comfortable running around in a kit worth thousands of dollars. I'd much rather have my crotch rip up in my 30 € woodland overalls than 400 € crye pants :D

Crye Combat gear is the most comfortable stuff i've ever put on.

And its built incredibly well too, its stood up to more wear than my previous BDU's & DPM's.

And damn right it's gotta be durable and comfortable, I wouldn't have the nerve to ask millllions of $ for gear that falls apart by just thinking about going ****e :D

Well...as soon as DARPA releases their stealth suit, multicam is about as good as it is going to get. If you want to see ACUs, just turn on the news or see what 100,000+ guys are wearing in Iraq. If your beef is with airsofters, don't let the door to this forum hit you in the ass on the way out.

Well, not to sound like a killjoy, but is anyone else tired of seeing multicam? The kits seem to blend together after awhile. It has become the Gucci fashionware of airsofters these days. Not to slight any of you guys with multicam themed kits, but I always enjoy seeing more diverse camouflage patterns in use.
I'm pretty tired of multicam. It looks like plain khaki would work just as well. I think its a big marketing scheme to differentiate the product and make more sales on expensive overly priced gear that is unecessary and not anymore effective than plan old lbe and khakis. I personally don't like the pattern, but what ever seems like most people do.

Considering I airsoft myself, I obviously don't have a beef with others who do it. My point is: there are many, many other camouflage patterns available, do something creative.

How about some more Russian partizan camouflage?

The problem is multicam does work in many different environments. Here are some readily available sets:

ACU-Doesn't blend in with any environment.
Woodland BDUs-Works great in forests; sucks in deserts.
DCUs- Just the opposite; great in deserts, but crap in woods.
Flecktarn-Excellent in woodland areas, but more difficult to get.
MARPAT-Good stuff, but you have to pick a kit for the right environment(woods/desert).
CADPAT-I've never tried it, but looks good. Harder to get.
Black-Doesn't really blend in anywhere and looks like a SWAT team member.
Tan-Do you really want to look like a UPS delivery guy?
Russian or other exotic patterns-Probably ok in their environment they are intended for, but hard to get and gear matching highly unlikely.

Multicam is also popular now since the Transformers movie came out and everyone wants to dress up like the Air Force guys, or whatever the hell they were supposed to be. Crye has also contributed to the popularity by making the material expensive and hard to get. With multicam getting a bit easier to purchase from Propper and TruSpec, the real stuff from Crye is still near impossible to buy unless you want to pay stupid amounts of money for it.

I'd like to go with a SWEDPAT kit, but their clothing is more difficult to buy and would involve funneling money into a pattern of more limited tactical utility. I have Flecktarn clothing and gear but still prefer the multicam pattern, even in wooded areas.

Sorry about the "airsofter beef" comment, but I like real steel, I like airsoft, and am an Army veteran. There are some airsoft jerks, but there is also a tendency to lump everyone with an interest in it into the same dung heap.

No worries, I completely agree that there are some airsofters that ruin it for the rest of us in terms of being "lumped" into the category so to speak.

Don't get me wrong, multicam sets are impressive in the sense that they are often quite detailed in terms of what type of gear is being carried, but it does get a bit repetitive after awhile. Once you've seen one complete Ghost Recon kit, you've seen them all.

With my kits, I try to search out unusual camouflage patterns and "niche" themed uniforms and gear. It'd be great to see more kits along this line, with more exotic material being used. Anyone else here use a German WWII steel helmet in skirmishes? :)

Some of my personal favorite camouflage patterns:

Classic jungle tigerstripe
Russian partizan camouflage
Chinese Tibet flectarn
Danish M84 camouflage
Pre-81 U.S. woodland ERDL camouflage
"Red Dawn" style Soviet camouflage paratrooper smocks

As for desert, I'd like to get a hold of some Kazakhstan camouflage BDUs, or otherwise, just tan uniforms.

Polygon I think you're right on the money there. If you go with multicam, you'll pretty much end up looking just like every one else who did the same decision.
My favourite camo patterns are US woodland, German flectarn and 3 color desert. And as the given US camo patterns aren't the least seen patterns on the airsoft fields they still offer plenty of room for individuality while preserving an authentic look. You can go your own way with it. With flecktarn it's pretty much the same, it doesn't grow old.

Besides, multicam most certainly doesn't blend in in conifereus woods any more than a DCU does. Trying to create a universal camo is a goal that imo can't be reached, not without severely compromising the effectiveness of the camo pattern.
