Tenda: How does our AUSCAM go in the field in Europe. Seeming the camo is built to Australian standards!

In the past i have sent AUSCAM hootchies to a UK:TA officer because they are meant to be some gucci gear in the UK atm because they work so well for camo and to get a nice sleep!

Tenda, have you ever been to either the Berretta factory, or Brescia, near the Bennelli factory? Just curious. I don't care about either company, but those places are so damn BEAUTIFUL!

I love your rifle... How much does airsoft sniping differ from what you'd expect in real world? Gotta be closer due to range? Not so much stalking? Also, is that burlap on your scope, or what kind of material did you use?

Long Trang
10-30-2004, 12:48 AM
Yeah the ghillie was made with an old pair of US woodland bdu's with netting sewed on and then the burlap was weaved through it and glued with hot glue (worked really nice). Then i shred it with a wire brush and after that i put it in the washing machine to get the shaggy look.

You can actually stock pretty well with it, one guy got with in 10 feet of me before he noticed me until i had to use my m9 when he heard my first shot. The only bad thing about it is the scope's sun shade it was damaged in shiping so it doesnt really fit on the scope any more so if it gets bumped hard it can unscrew its self. Other then that the gun works really well.

Speaking of airsoft sniper rifles, I JUST finished fixin' my upgraded M16A4, into a sort of sniper rifle. Observe:

TM M16A2, with SAMCO M44L RIS, upgraded to 400fps, TN 6.04mm barrel, with a Hurricane SR15 metal body, which REALLY helps. This thing does NOT squeek! It is quite accurate, and has some real nice range to it.

No burlap yet, and I haven't gotten my ghillie back from one of my friends. Haven't worn one for a few years.

I'm just happy to say that I'm finally CONFIDENT that I can hit somewhat distant targets with consistency, now that I have this rifle. And if need be, I remove the cheekpad and scope, slap a red dot on top, and I have something that resembles a battle rifle. :)

TacoDelRio

Yeah that red clay color has been pissing me off. It blends in like "gangbusters" (really frickin' well) in the high desert here. It matches most everything after a fresh rainfall, too. But damn, I could've sworn Krylon's rust preventative stuff was brown-er before?

Thanks for the positive comments on the AEG.

Yeah the metal body only makes it, I dunno, about 4,000,000 times better!

Long Trang

Krylons camouflage line of paints are awsome, they worked really well on my m24 and im prolly gonna use them again on the m15a4, might even have to buy a RIS unit for it and get an an/peq.

Scarr.at, you have too much money.
We've got one of these at our shop:
http://images.gunsamerica.com/upload/976366417-1.jpg
Only $5779.00!!! The Swarovski 6-24x50mm is an extra $1,800.00 though. woot

How much did you pay for yours? ;)

Xanthais: Not part of RAID. I contacted them a few times, but my schedule simply blows ass, so I cannot attend any of their stuff, sadly.

I am still currently the leader of a small, quiet airsoft team based out of LA County since 1998, known as 1st SOCI (Special Operations Capable Infantry). We don't play many games, but we do alot of training, kinda like hardcore camping, and survival training where you actually sometimes MUST kill small game (licensed) to survive, but nobody beats you up (well, not usually ;) ). Sucks though, cause alot of times Quail and rabbits aren't around, so you gotta pick other animals. If it's got more than 4 legs, chances are, Tabasco will improve the way it tastes!

We are currently planning a loaded trek to the top of Mt. Baldy, and hopefully the recent rains and snowfall up there will remove the fire warning, and closures.

At this point in the post, I BARELY tapped the back button on the mouse, which pissed me off supremely. Basically, we do alot of shooting with real guns obviously, but not at each other unless you request it. ;)

If anyone is interested, you'd have had alot of interesting details if I hadn't hit the button, but just PM me or email.

DB

Just found out that Airsoft is more or less legal here in Ireland, I would advise against people running around the countryside in military costume with replica firearms however, for obvious reasons.
Even that obese spanish 15yo delta operator would probably get mistaken for a "live target".

Its not illegal....but youd want to notify customs if your about to order some plus the Gardai will still try and confiscate them with some made up reason but a few little geeks on IMO have imported them for their personal use.
Just be careful, some little muppet with a pellet gun nearly got wasted Armed Gardai in 1995 after he went on a shooting spree with a bb gun.

Hmm,

Here's some pictures of some different uniforms and me in different situations. The team I am in has practice almost every weekend and I also (together with a few friends) arrange some of Swedens largest AirSoft-scenarios...
I own a CA MP5 A2 and a Glock 19, and will eventually buy a Colt SPC that will be somewhat modded but that is a project for another time. I focus mainly on CQB,

Gear include BHI CrossDraw Vest, Radiopouch, Dropleg Holster, Swedish full BDU, Black BDU (Propper), SWAT-helmet replica, Cobra MT700 (radio w/ headset)asorted Bollé-protective glasses, Neoprene gloves etc...

http://www.avlid.net/anders/img/swat.jpg
Me in a pretty CQB-ish mode. Taken after a day of training.

http://www.avlid.net/anders/img/swedish.jpg
Me in the standard uniform of the Swedish Armed Forces. Please note that weapon is not S.A.F standard and rig is not standard issue either. Taken in an old CQB / MOUT-facility outside the town I live in.

http://www.avlid.net/anders/img/working.jpg
Me working at a scenario that me and my friends arranged this spring.

For more information on AirSoft in Sweden please visit http://www.milsim.se!

All that gear is used - well most of it - both in the real field and in airsoft.

I don't hink you wish yours would look as new, so don't say so ;) I think in fact stuff like this looks way better when it's well used.

The knee and elbow pads, well those are brand new, just gotten them two days ago.

I PERSONALLY THINK THAT'S PUSHING IT ABOUT 4 BLOCKS TOO FAR FOR AIRSOFT. You earn those blue cords? I assume it's a WWII re-enactment, with the glider infantry patch on the ****-cap, and the Reebok backpack in the background just gives it such an aire of realism!

Asahi M40. Possible the rarest airsoft gun around. Rumors say, that there are less than 25 Asahi M40s still around, after the japanese govermnet destroyed most of them, because you could use a .22 converison kit for a remington 700 to make it shoot real bullets.

11-14-2004, 07:11 PM
Why painted stock Scaar? Doesn't make any sence to me - unless you want to make these pitch-black barrel, scope, bipod, sling sitck out any more than they do now ;) Camo - it or not but for heavens sake - dont let it off halfway!

Scaar.at
11-14-2004, 11:23 PM
do you still have your senses? would you really paint an Asahi m40? Man, youre sick ;)

The is a HS Precision M24 Kevlar/Composite stock, factory painted with this pattern. So the paint gonna stay on the stock ;) No way I would paint the original Asahi M40 stock or Asahi m40 itself. Thats like you would drink coke out of the holy grale using a spiral straw. :D

Anyway, I like the way it looks now. If Im really going to use this babe and need to camo it, I will use my ghuille rifle camo

Catch22
11-15-2004, 01:34 PM
Well I dont like coke that much Scaar ;) And I'm not an 'airsofter" generally. If this Asashi thing is an roughly equivalent of Holy Grail in ASG world, and the very thought of making it properly camoed is a blasphemy - I'm deeply sorry  ;) Anyway I was just wondering - why its left undone. Now I understand its more like collectors item.

When it comes to camoed guns - sniper rifles particulary, I'd also opt for using the net, as long as it allows to operate rifle/scope freely. We've been comparing some sniper rifles in open field, and when it comes to camouflage effects and best thing was Army sniper's SAKO TRG 21 wrapped up in russian KLMK camo net with some foliage added. Painted GROM Hecates were nice also but painting alone doesnt break outline too well. Generally best option in my opinion is to have some basic overall camouflage painted over the gun and then some netting added over.

And surely its a preety gun Scaar :)

The whole setup costs about 500 - 600 euro. Then you have an m16 Vietnam (AEG, Tokyo Marui) (280 - 300 euro) with battery and spare magazines.

And the most important ofcourse, the gear:

Third Pattern Poplin Jungle Fatigue Coat
Third Pattern Poplin Jungle Fatigue Trousers
Incl all the nametags, insignia etc.

Basic fieldgear (think of suspenders, pistolbelt, e-tool plus e-tool cover, canteens, M-56 Universal Small Arms Ammunition Pouches, m1 helmet, OD boonie etc etc) And then you get the jungleboots. (have to be the correct one)

If you want to go a little bit further, ofcourse you have to buy a flakvest, a bandoleer with spare m16 magazines and perhaps a lightweight rucksack and other stuff like OD poncho, m1911 holster (like mine).

I think that whole setup cost me at least 600 euro's!! And the hardest thing about 'Nam reenactment/airsoft is the fact that it takes a lot of time and patience to collect all your stuff, for the right price in the right size.

It took me ages to find the correct jungleboots, so i decided to buy them in de US instead of Belgium/Netherlands. I guess if you live in the US its much easier to collect 'Nam stuff than if you live in Belgium for example.

If you know what kind of gear you exactly need for Vietnam airsoft/reenactement, look at this site:

http://www.thevietnam-database.co.uk/

Good luck :D you will need it

Exactly , Vietnam - era gear is hard to come by.

I'm a collector of that era's stuff as well , and so far my collection only has an M1 helmet (ERDL and Mitchell covers) , field cap (the baseball - cap looking model) , a pair of bandoleers , OD Poncho (not American , though , but very similar) , M/1956 (LC1) webbing , and a pair of jungle boots (I got em' pretty cheap and it was only a size too big for me.)

I decided not to get the M16A1 "VN" - version , since I've been logging long guns around with me ever since I started this hobby. So , I bought one of em' Colt XM-177E2's and been very happy.

Of course that carbine mainly could be issued to LRRP's and those sorts , but afterall I believe that in the movie Platoon Sgt. Barnes had one em' and those guys were from the 25th infantry division (or , maybe it was a CAR-15).

With almost everything else (the jungle fatigues) I've had to improvise quite heavily. Of course, I've been looking at possibilites of buying one of them ERDL - camouflaged BDU's in the future..

Dalleer, you have any photos of your gear? Always nice to see what others collect.

About that Colt XM-177E2;

http://www.modelguns.co.uk/images/nwXM177e.jpg

It was being used by sgts/lt's with the line-units and ofcourse as you said used by the LRRP units and other SF units. The CAR-15 was the earliest version of the Colt carbine:

http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/reviews/car15/photos/carindex.jpg

Both extreme nice guns :D But i like the M16 Vietnam over the the XM177E2 because of the metalparts and therefore it feels more like a real weapon if you know what i mean.

Cheers dude!

Ow, i almost forgot: I've ordered a lot of stuff at Moore's Militaria. I think this is the best 'Nam shop there is.

Tattico,

I see you have an INOVA light. I got one in the Army and I love it! Problem is the metal clip on the back snapped right off. Got any ideas on how to fix it?

I fixed it recently by buying a Surefire E1E Executive, and putting a KL1 LED lamp on it ($$$$$). I still like the LED INOVA setup for signalling.

Night!

Damn mate, what's your name? Hercules? It's not so easy to snap it off.
I don't know how is really attached the metal clip to the light; i don't c any screw

"They are 2 different lights as you know; how did u fix the inova clip problem buying a surefire?"

Replaced it. :)

"Damn mate, what's your name? Hercules? It's not so easy to snap it off.
I don't know how is really attached the metal clip to the light; i don't c any screw "

Yeah, just two rivets. Bastards. I trid OD Duct tape already, and 550 cord, but nothing works yet. The Surefire does the trick though. My primary use for the light was reading maps and compasses, and also picking up gear my lazy ass lost in camp. :| They both work well in each, but the Surefire doesn't accidentally turn onto the "Disco mode" as often. That Inova's bezel is now crammed with sand, so it turns a bit harder, which is better.

I'll probably see if I can't remove the rivets, and put screws in there with an ALICE clip, which would've been a good idea for them in the first place. Got mine at a PX. That's probably their primary distributor!

BTW, how tight is the strap on your right-leg dropleg pouch? I have 2 platforms, and both move too damn freely.

It's not a modular leg rig but an "all-in-1" pouch and it's damned well made.
So it comes without a platform.

Thanks

BTW nice mudcat

TacoDelRio
12-08-2004, 06:33 AM
As far as I know, the riggers belts (CQB belt, misspelled in my previous post) are a backup belt. If you are supposed to rappell, you would use a harness or swiss seat, but say you were in a helicopter, you could clip a retention line to your rigger belt, so if you slid a bit too close to the window seat, youd be ok, sorta. You'd probably need to change your underpants though.

I dunno for sure about strength. I got a Blackhawk one, made in Vietnam. Next time I almost fall out of a helicopter (next year), I'll let you know.

3X 130 rd G&P spring clips

Problem is I'm moving to Dubai in February and dunno if they have any airsoft clubs over there. f they do I guess I'll have to re-outfit in desert colors. Anyway I'm not taking my gun so it will be a good excuse to buy the new M4 S-system from Marui next year.

I work as one of Blackhawk's distributors. They have some South Korean and American gear, in addition to the more common Vietnamese stuff. It all depends on what you get, and when you get it.

Most of mine is Vietnamese. I don't care if it breaks, I'll get more for cheap.

But I really enjoy it so it's worth it. Not to mention I bought my wife a $1400 digital camera so she couldn't complain to much. ;)

yeah, training like ****.
You just stand around, look if everybody has got correct "entry passes" and invitation, if student IDs are ok, you cannot shout and hit drunk or not good behaving people, no *** in toilet with drunken teens. The worst thing is to explain people, that they won't get in becouse of bad type of boots. I personally think this is pile of ****, but it's the reason of overload of discos, clubs and will to keep the good level. The real problems is with drugs. They are everywhere and it is almost impossible to catch them, Dealers are changing in fast time and bringing them inside is very easy. Now girls are transporting them, ad later they give to their boyfriends.

Also i hate this f*** hush, heat, loud basses, smoke and i want to my mama ;)

Ok, I complained a litte, now I go to bed. :)
