I got it from Orc Industries on their website www.hercules-wear.com (http://www.hercules-wear.com) and it says on their website they are the original makers of the PCU. They are selling the next generation PCU which they say has improved fabric. It is called the MCU. I got this one from there in 2007 right when they were clearing them out. They have good prices about $96 compared to $200 and up form other vendors. I think I paid about $80 for mine. Why get a knockoff when you can get the real thing for cheaper?

Nice! I'm actually about to pick up a TAD Stealth softshell and the Eagle rack that's similar to that, but it comes with the two pouches on either side permanently attached. How do you like the two pieces?
SnoeDae
02-04-2009, 11:22 PM
i definitely prefer having the MOLLE on the sides. it's more versatile that way, and it's totally bomber (as is most anything by Eagle). i suppose if you go with the MBITR version you can use those pouches for your radio, nalgene, snacks, etc. but i prefer having the option of an extra pouch for magazines or a medic pouch that will keep its contents more secure.
my only complaint about the softshell is the lack of a hood. but that's my fault for being a penny-pincher. even in steady rain it keeps me dry. well worth the money. i plan on putting it to the test when i take it backpacking in a few months. i hypothesize satisfaction will result...

Marines do wear patches, here are some examples.
- Marines working in the air wing will have patches on their coveralls.
- Marines deployed wearing flight suits ( usually ) have a patch for Unit, Name and Rank
- Marines in the field or overseas wear IR glint squares on cammies ( not all the time )
- Marine units such as Recon Battalion, Force Recon, ANGLICO, and MARSOC wear the IR flag while in the field or overseas ( not all the time )
- Shore party or Air Delivery Marines have red patches on their cammie bottoms and hats. Also known as "Red Tag Fags"
These are the only ones I can currently think of right now.

Since the DPM thread is kind of dead... I thought I'd ask here...since it does pertain to kit I want to use for airsoft.
S95 is still the standard-issue kit, correct?
I also know there's some Soldier 2000 kit out there..
My other question is do UK troops mix S95 and S2000? Like S95 trousers with a S2000 smock?

But in this case I was more concerned with the first thing.

Hmmmm. I perhaps might have a desert Norwegian uniform for sale in the future. ;) It is defective though in the upper L arm, as it is missing the whole pocket flap in order to keep the pocket closed.

Hmmm, very interesting... Might just have to have a chat with you about that.
I've got Amerika covered (except for the new Navy cam), pre-Cadpat Kanada covered, and a start on the UK, but now I'm out of money, gotta love the economy. Also scored a new Chinese Armed Police uniform from value village.
And to top it off, I'd like to get back into playing airsoft every once and a while. Man, I need money.

Money is a big issue usually for stuff like this, I might be able to score you an Iraqi Policeman digital uniform, but don't hold it as a guarantee, it's hard to get that stuff. I will definitely try though. Don't know why you quit airsoft to begin with, I should slap you for it. :p

To PG18:
Do you ever see American "re-enactors" with the name tapes of real people and real heroes? No, you don't ever see it. Because there is a level of respect there, that someone like you obviously just doesn't get... Which says a lot about the person you might be if you can't understand something as obvious as that.

You need to read the stickie on posing. It is forum policy. Right, wrong or indifferent, that is the way it is. I know on a all airsoft forum or reenacting forum or a milsim forum they are not as restrictive.
This is a military forum that added airsoft because of request by members. I am on several other military forum and Airsoft is not allowed.
That is because of Military culture posing is major insult to those who earned those tabs, ranks, awards, etc.
If you have time, read Stolen Valour. It will help to explain some of it.
It may seem unfair to you, but then this forum is a military oreintated forum. All it takes is a little effort on your part and there is no problem.
Note to all: This is not up to discussion.............. read the sticky on posing.

"Kids" I can care less, but when it is a person who is an adult of serving age, then it is definitely wrong. Younger kids no doubt like to play war and all that crap, but when it is an adult that is pretty pathetic. But I am still just saying, it might of been a show or whatnot, but it can easily be done without ranks, or patches. Especially since ACU is really only worn by one country, and most people should know, they are however less likely to know what the patches mean in general (what unit) so it's useless to use patches. Their own name on the armor or rig is fine, blood type, or regular morale patches you can buy off of MM (Milspec Monkey) I think is A-OK and still is good enough to emmulate a specific force without infringing on the rules of this forum, or angering possible vets, or service members in general. As you know already, I'm not the only person who seems to bite people when they post the wrong without bothering to read important threads first. Just a heads up man, I don't think you're a bad person, you do pretty much know better since you've been here a "while".

Nice Chasis, perhaps far too much tatt on it for my taste though, the rig is supposed to be designed as a light load.
Either way though, it does the job :)

Thanks, I don't care much for the pattern on it, pretty commonplace here.
I like it because of how the pockets and Velcro strips are placed.
I might bring my camera to the skirmish tomorrow for some pics of the whole kit in use.

Not very common around here at all, that is why I happen to own a set. I like to be "different". I also have sets of M98 / M04 and M90 uniforms.

Get some Finnish M/62 and you'll pretty much be set, because it's not like you ever will get your hands on any M05, well, any real M05 at least.

There was a real set of M05 on ebay a little bit ago, it was being sold by a Polish seller for 150 bucks. It didn't get bought the first time he listed, but the second time he listed it, it finally got bought up.
He also sold the new snow camo suit you guys have as well.

Better yet, don't wear any flags... Anyways every country has it's own camo pattern (well pretty much) so it's pretty obvious that if one is in ACU he's playing US servicemen right?

That is how I see it as, unless if the uniform already came with the flag sewn on, I don't really see a point to cut it off, but if it is velcro and you basically add it yourself, then yeah there is a little problem.

But still, all that gear, plus the scopes and other accessories to 'pimp out' your weapon, adds up to a lot of money.

Back to the topic, I'm not quite as loaded out as some of these guys. I'm using a Classic Army M15 A4 Carbine. I have some ACU along with a pair of old gloves, my dad's old highway patrol vest, my grandpa's old jungle boots, a $40 steel pot, and whatever else I had. The only money I've spent at all is on the gun, helmet, and ACU pants. The ACU shirt and elbow pads I got for Christmas. I guess I was fortunate enough to have a dad and grandpa in the army and my dad was also on the highway patrol SWAT team, so I'm kinda bumming their old gear, but I'm still more decked out than any of my friends. You really don't have to take it quite as far as some people do to have fun, although dressing up is fun. I get made fun of for it among my friends (and mostly my dad) for all the gear but I think it's fun. I'm thinking about spending a little bit of money on a replica MICH helmet just so it fits the look of the ACU. A steel pot with an ACU cover looks odd... But yeah, the gear I listed looks just fine to me... Any arguments?http://militaryphotos.net/forums/picture.php?albumid=1002&pictureid=12100

I hope not. I realized that very shortly after creating the damn thing... Kind of a "durr" moment on my end. :cantbeli: I do have a goal to become a captain through ROTC and ideally I'd like to attend Westpoint. It's a hell of a shot but I'd really like to go there. But I agree that the username was stupid. :cantbeli:

If your goal is to go into the army then you could be involved with an ROTC program at college. Good luck on applying to West Point, its a great place. You could also apply to the Merchant Marine Academy. Upon graduation you can either sail in the Merchant Marine or go into any of the branches of the military (I have a friend going Navy flight, another going Army, and I'm in the Marine Corps program). It defiantly keeps your options open.
*recruiting moment over*
And yes, the steel pot does look slightly odd with an ACU cover

Yeah, I've looked in to how ROTC and West Point and stuff like that works (as far as the graduate as a 2Lt.) so I'm pretty excited about looking at actually trying to DO something. Next year (junior year) is what I've heard is the year to start doing so.
But again, back to the topic, yeah, I went to hell and back trying to get a MICH cover on a steel pot. Haha. It eventually worked and, although it looks a little odd, I think it's also kinda cool looking. I'm trying to get a replica MICH helmet when I can also. As far as the entire loadout, I probably couldn't take all my gear to Iraq and live very long like some of the people on here  but it works for airsoft and it is enough to have fun with it as well as protect me. Like I said, people already give me trouble about it, especially my dad, but hey, I'd rather wear the stuff and have fun than not wear it and get welted up. The only friends that don't give me crap about the helmet are the ones who've actually taken a shot to the nogin... Hahaha.

Very true.
Quite frankly, I've never gotten the point of wearing helmets for outdoor airsofting. Soft caps are just fine, and helmets just seem to give the other side a bigger target. For close quarters or indoor games, sure, but what's the point of running around the woods with steel or kevlar pot on your head?
