Alot of times, weapons manufacturers wil do that to show the versatility of their guns, so since they aren't serious about lugging it into combat, it's not so funny (no offense). :(

NOW, you wanna see funny? Look at airsoft guns that airsofters put together. Now they are serious about their ****. I've seen an HK USP9, with a bipod, RPK stock, 2 tac lights, a forward grip, and a suppressor on it. That's bad. rofl

I'm serious. Go search some airsoft forums.

The scope in the back is a night vision scope and you pair it with the aimpoint because it has a infared setting making it possible to use the reticle to fire the weapon accuratly!

Anyone who has ever used an M4 for more than taking a picture with would laugh their ass off at the sight of a big boy like that carrying that weapon!

Notice how immaculate and unused and clean ALL of his gear is, including his weapon?
And why do so many airsofters go for the Blackhawk Down look with black gear over tri-deserts?
It gets old seeing that **** on so many wannabe, nevergonnabe's!

If you look close, you can actually see some sweat gathering on the boys brow. From standing their with his weapon and gear, getting a picture taken.

How do you keep gear so immaculate?
Oh that's right, you NEVER USE IT!

He probably has a mannequin setup in his house that he dresses up with his gear. And he salutes it every morning before going to his job of head of security at a retirement home.

One thing in regards to the black gear over desert.
Black goes with everything, I aint gonna buy 3 vests (eg. Black, OD and Tan) I'd rather buy a black one cause it goes with everything, wether it be Woodland, desert og just plain black BDU's.

And note that at "AAR LION CLAWS 3" (http://www.cimmerians.org/AAR_LION_CLAWS_3.html) Col. Danny McKnight (ret) was there.

Hmm , well , I've had different experiences with black vests. Now of course it "goes" with everything , but I'm willing to bet that mixing black and tan/3-color desert/ desert patterns in general/ etc. is not going to make you blend in more (well , maybe during the night).

Or maybe blending into the background isn't as important to all players as it is to me. Anyway , I don't use my OD (green) MP - vest that much at the moment but I'm willing to bet that an OD vest would go better with the regular Woodland , and tan stuff (in terms of camouflage , not the cool - factor).

Maybe a black vest would indeed look the best with completely black BDU's , but I'm sure that a green one wouldn't be that bad either.

But hey , your call..So don't buy three different vests , just buy one in OD (green) !

I myself own a BHI shotgun vest in OD (since I use it for hunting) I do agree with you in regards to camouflage purpose a black vest is not the most ideal you could go with.

If I had the money I would buy a vest in every color possible, however a OD vest (gear) goes both with Woodland (duhh) and desert (or tan for that matter).

But I think that in a urban scene like in Iraq (someone please correct me if I'm wrong) I dont think camo does much good.

Anyway , I don't use my OD (green) MP - vest that much at the moment but I'm willing to bet that an OD vest would go better with the regular Woodland , and tan stuff (in terms of camouflage , not the cool - factor).
I always figured that the reason that black vests over tri-deserts were so popular was because they used them in Blackhawk Down.
And that's the same reason that so many airsofters used that color combo, to emulate the guys from BHD.

I also figured the reason they even used that color combo in BHD, was because at that time there wasn't a hell of alot to choose from as far as vests go.
But that's not the case today.

Before I got out of the military in 2000, I never saw an 11B using a black vest.
I saw alot of BHI vests in OD, and a few in tan.

And from what I learned about concealment in the military, black is your enemy.

You see SWAT teams use black gear alot.

But I don't foresee a time when I will ever be doing any SWAT work, where black is standard.

It also doesn't make much sense to buy a vest for general use in black, when your AO is gonna be sandy.
An OD vest won't stick out at night any more than the black will.
And during the day, the black WILL stick out ALOT more than the OD.
So an OD vest makes ALOT more sense!

Unless you're going primarily for the "cool factor".
And isn't that the entire premise of airsoft?

Because it's "cool and fun"?
It sure isn't "duty" that drives people to buy $1000's of military gear, specifically for airsoft.

When you see photos or video of our guys that are currently in theater, their gear is either OD or some variant of coyote.
I've never actually seen ANYONE using black gear over tri-deserts when in theater.
The ONLY 2 places I've ever seen that is in BHD, or in a picture of airsofters.
So when I see that, I think airsofters emulating Delta in BHD!

Seems like a safe bet.

When I see guys wearing OD or coyote STRIKE (or other MOLLE variants), I think theater in Afghanistan or Iraq.

It just seems that the black on tri-deserts is a dead giveaway for airsofters!

Nothing against airsoft, or those who play it.
Just an observation.

Also, IMO, paintball is more fun than airsoft.
There's not as much BS involved in paintball.
Just some guys wearing their old cammies, shooting at each other.

With airsoft, it seems that those who play it have to "fall in", as if you're actually in the military.
And with paintball, you don't have to re-finance your house to afford the gear.

I was in the military! And I'm not anymore.
So I see nothing fun about having to be subject to stringent equipment regulations just to play a damn game!
Because in the end, that's all it is.

Yeah, I'm sure alot of airsofters fancy themselves more than just grown men "playing soldier".
But in the end, that's all it comes down to.

It's just a game! But it must be more than just a game to some, otherwise they wouldn't be so serious about it, and fork out $10,000 for equipment to make them look like they're real soldiers.

One thing that IS very upsetting though is seeing airsofters wearing unit ID and insignia!

But hey, I guess emulation is the ultimate form of flattery.

TacoDelRio

Heh, people always jerk me for how I always spraypaint every piece of exposed gear. I don't like putting frickin' burlap on my gear like they teach you in Benning. Gets in the damn way. Just spraypaint it. Does a SIMILAR thing.

Yeah guys keep in mind they play so they can feel like they were there. They aren't going for effectiveness, or otherwise they wouldn't use half that crap anyway. Probably wouldn't wear anything but running shoes and light clothes, with a pistol, if it was me.
