I bought some brand new ammo pouches from an online surplus store. The problem is that they have that stinky army surplus odor. They are nylon pouches but the belt loops are cotton and they stink the most. I've washed the pouches twice with detergent but the odor is still there. Does anybody have any ideas how to get rid of the odor, short of using chlorine?

Febreeze would work thats a scent masking smell...any sorta aresol to get rid of the dominant smell would help...I'd just use it enough and it will stop smelling, try rubbing it on a fur branch or covering it in dirt for a bit.

Baking soda rubbed into the offending fabric, leave for ten minutes then wash off. This might work.

Yeah, baking soda can be pretty good for some smells.
You could try a non-chlorine laundry bleach if other stuff doesn't work.

If none of those work, just leave them out in the sun for a few days. Make sure that the inside and outside both get plenty sun.

If you just take them and hang them outside in the sun for a couple days the sun will bleach the stink away
