That centcom link doesn't seem to be working. Is there a special significance for this one over the others?

Not really sorry about the all caps I just cut and pasted.

Also the IED thing, on a major supply route, during the day speaks to the realtive ease of striking our support troops (COSCOM). :|

Which raises the question does the enemy recognize the differences between support and infantry/combat arms, (weapons/patches/general awareness) and is therefore targeting support units? Which would indicate a relatively high level of sophistication/organization.

From the photos that I've seen of burned out supply trucks, they're rather obvious as to the fact that they're supply trucks. I read a little while ago that all convoys would now require at least a total of 4 vehicles so that they could engage and find the enemy when they launch surprise attacks. I saw on dateline or nightline the other day, a bunch of Iraqi's set off a few roadside explosives at night as a convoy was passing, but no one was injured. They rounded up 3 guys with improvised explosive packs. The whole thing seemed very ragtag and almost like the suicide bombers in Israel. Some guy who's well connected gives a bunch of guys who aren't well trained or coordinated, a bunch of bombs and tells them where they think a convoy is expected to pass and they're sent on their way. A question that I'm sure the intelligence agencies are mulling around, is how and if the UN and mosque bombings are connected to these much smaller scale and varyingly effective roadside incidents.

that's why the army should toss out the unit patch for non-garrison wear - the "leaning ****house" looks very different from an "all american" - it IS kinda obvious..

good luck to the WIA
and RIP to the one who gave his life.

I thought "improvised explosive devices" like that where called a "bobby trap". :|

****y trap is the initiation system of the Improvised Explosive Device (IED). IEDs don't have to be ****y-trapped - they can be remotely triggered by a wire or a wireless devices. Hizbollah is a world-class engineer of such, and the knowledge is being transferred to Hammas rapidly.
