philippines last year to help fight rebels? What ever happened with that whole thing? I never once heard about it in the news.

They went, did what they had planned and then quickly realized that the US field was spred to thin and returned to deploy elsewhere. At least that's what's in the rumor mill. Mostly political probably!

Didn't they lose an MH47 in the course of the deployment too ? any idea if it was through hostile action ?

Of the 10, eight are from the 160th SOAR while the last two were from the USAF 353rd SOG.
