The new guns don't count as firearms under federal regulations because they're muzzleloaders, Koscielski and Teel said.

I thought there would be a problem with the BATF until I read this, I remember my Great Uncle in IN, had a wallet gun years ago that has since been made illegal, SBR or destrcutive device(I'm sure osmeone outtherecan correct me n this?)
As far as how affective, anything is better than nothing, only problem is I'm not sure these will appeal to females as anyone that has to measure out gun powder and then load ball bearings may shy away from it?

What does it do that a Derringer doesn't?

IIRC, you can load these with pistol caliber shot shells, if thats what you want.
