I have a recovered M1 carbine.

The weapon has been made servicable (repaired, replaced, refurbished) but I lack a decent stock. Unlike other series of weapons, I am less knowledgable. I am looking for something out there that I, or my FFL, may not yet have seen for a new M1 carbine stock.
Any links of ideas would be great.

Durandal I am counting on you - don't let me down or the Stassehaus will cut off your tab.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I already looked there - I dig the p-rail handguard.

I was looking for a pistol grip. The original stock was a foler - replaced with a wood - then damaged.

Yeah - but I wondered if there was anything else out there - I found a poly-composite stock with pistol grip but it looked way cheap and flimsy. I'd almost prefer the M1a1 wire.

So do you want to restore it to original specs? Or maybe just make it a shooter you can have fun with?

NOT original specs - I have all those pieces.

I want to have fun - I have vintage rifles of an older era - I wanted something to have some fun with.

My M4 is great but gets old - I sold my Rem 700 - and want to have some fun with something new. - so I pulled it (M1 car) out of the closet. The current stock a wood one - blows. It is a ****ty, busted, wood, traditional stock.

check Cabelas and Brownell's online. I bet they have something.

Is it GI? Government issued carbines use different stocks than some of the later ones made by Universal. You can modify a GI stock to fit the Universal, but its better to get the right stock.

I read through the thread, what EXACTLY are you looking for? A wood stock with a pistol grip?

Get a recent copy of Shotgun News and see if anyone is selling anything in it...that is where I find a lot of stuff. I know most of it is wholesale, but if you are are in tight with your FFL they normally work a pretty good deal for you.

With that said, what you are looking for does not require an FFL. So you can order the piece yourself.

I would try here: http://www.m1garandrifle.com/M1carbine.htm

and...

http://www.scott-duff.com/CollectorAcc.htm#C5

http://www.hoosiergunworks.com/catalog/military_stocks.html

I never used this site but it looks tasty: http://www.usgunparts.com/

A synthetic one is available here...

http://www.gunaccessories.com/Ramline/SynTechSporter.asp

and of course, try Ebay...there are two wood stocks right now up for bid.

And there are several others out there by doing a google search "m1 carbine stock", but I would try the ones I listed above first.

That you should start you off in the right direction. If it is not a wood stock, but JUST a wood grip to go with a metal folder, those should be there also...if not let me know and I will do some digging.

I do not have a replication machine but I have the wood if you wanted to have someone cut you a new one.

Not wood - don't care - the only thing other than traitional wood, wire stock or standard polymer w/pistol grip was all I found. I was just curios what was out there. The original polymer w/pistol grip I like but it was cheap construction - I have found one yesterday that was some quality.

I didn't know what was out there, nor did my FFL.

Saw a number of VERY nice M1 carbines this weekend at the Bill Goodman's Gun and Knife Show...

A good chunk of them were 1943 models...even one with an original folding stock (so many have had the folding stock added after they have been turned out to the civy marekt that its hard to find originals).

Some were going for as much as 1400.00 USD.
