Me luvs me Fender...the clean tone is simply awesome, although it's bit a of bitch when you distort it...It's in need of a good overhaul, though...

Sadly, because I'm not in band at the moment, I'm mostly playing this...

...a nice guitar but I've been looking for something more sexy. But money is scarce so it will have to do for now...

I have a black Fender Strat that I play very badly. Maybe my kids will have better luck than I. I took some lessons and the guy asked me who I wanted to play like/ who's style did I like, I said "Mark Knopfler" he said "good luck" Heh. Rat bastard.

Nice guitar Fintin!

I have a Yamaha electric which I purchased in 1993. I can't find a picture. It's one of those overly pointy rock guitars, so it looks like it should belong to meagadeath or something. It's really good fun to play though, with a great action. The only thing I don't like about it is that it has two humbuckers: I'd rather just have one.

I've also got a cheap nylon strung acoustic, which is evn better fun to play.

At the moment I'm messing around trying to build a practice amp. I have a 100 watt Fender hybrid amp if I want to PO the neighbors.

Your sticks are long but lack of girth. Guys who play piano/keyboard know how to press the right button and chicks dig that. http://www.nick5768.com/forum/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif

That's a bunch of sweet guitars. Do they have any interesting stories?

Thank you.

Took me ages to put them together.

Yes, there are "stories". I buy giutars basing myself on how they sound (feel, weight, tone, .... ) though.

One of the Stratocasters was seemingly used by Jimi Hendrix in person when he came to Rome back in 1969. He came to a club one night, and he played live on a guitar and amp that were given to him.

I got that guitar, and I used to own the amp as well (a 1969 Marshall).

Another one - confirmed though - is a Matchless DC30 used by G&R's lead guitar player to record one of his solo albums.
A great amp. Still have that one.

Also, Zucchero (I wonder how many of you know this Italian "blues" singer/songwriter lol) came to the studio with his guitar player, and we jammed together using a few instruments/amps at the studio.

Plus other minor ones... I am surprised by the Italian lack of knowledge on vintage instruments anyway. I received more feedback from international people than Italians... lol

Damn, that's sweet! You're one lucky dog, you know that? Being able to work with something you like.

...and yeah, I know Zucchero, although I can't say he's my favourite artist...

That is very kind of you.

BTW

Sweden is a lovely country. Great music there. And very good rock scene (please correct me if I am wrong?).

And actually, much better of a rock scene than or own Italian.

Please believe me if I tell you that I'd like to work more with you guys than the guys here. I don't mean to be disrespectful towards the Italians, nor get too serious about this issue here and now, but the Italian rock scene, and the young one (i.e., good young rockers coming up) is close to non-existent.

I know for sure that if I were in Sweden or some other northern european country, my studio would be crowded with young and fresh kids willing to do some great rock music...

Well thank you! I must admit that my knowledge about italian (rock) bands are close to non-existant, perhaps it's like what you're saying that there aren't many around?

Without knowing what kind of rock you're into I'd recommend you to look up The Hellacopters (especially the albums Grande rock, High visibility and By the grace of god, their older albums are also very good but has more of punk feel to them), Mando diao, The Hives and my favourite: Christian Kjellvander and his old band Loosegoats (not strictly rock but great music nonetheless) if you have the opportunity...

I'm a bass player. I used to play a Beatle bass -- a Hofner. I like the reverb from hollow-bodies and the light weight. I am lusting after a Takamine fretless B-10. Unfortunately it's $3,500 retail. From the 'post your desktop' thread:
