''They performed combat and security-assistance operations in Afghanistan, the Horn of Africa, the Philippines and Iraq,'' Kensinger said. ''Their stellar work has led to the defeat of the Taliban and al-Qaida forces.''
Special Forces soldiers expelled a terrorist group from an island in the Philippines, he said.
About 1,600 Special Forces soldiers are operating in those locations, he said. More than 800 soldiers are deployed in some 30 countries on missions ranging from counterdrug to humanitarian operations, Kensinger said."
