Great HELO. It has work great for the MX Navy. The Army had lots of problems wth them, because they were not bought directly from the ROBSONEXPORT* russian company and they could not replace pieces.

How can it be a great helo if it had lot's of problems?
That's a contradiction p-)

Before I get flamed, I was jokingly refering to the above post made by GAFES of the MI-8 in MX service.
I am not bashing the aircraft. Been aboard an MI-8 several times when I was in Europe. Nice aircraft.

Worked great for the Navy but it didnt work so well for the army because they didnt use an official supplier, I gather. No contradiction there.

Actually, it is. If the government can fund one service but not the other, well, speaks for itself.
In any case, was making a joke...

THE MX ARMY and the NAVY, belong to two diferent secretariats( National Defense Secretariat (Sedena) , Navy Secretariat (Semar) Each one buys weapons wherever they want. The Navy made the good choice to buy them directly fron the company.
The mx army decided to buy them used from a eastern european country. ( cant remember the name )

The problem is not funding but sourcing.
They took the cheaper option and bought helos from a former user. They then found that former user had either used or sold their stocks of spare parts and could not supply them properly. The Peruvians made a similar mistake of buying some aircraft from a former Soviet state... only to find they couldn't supply parts or other spares needed. They ended up buying a few more airframes from the original maker and then buying spare parts from them.
Have heard of deals being signed to repair and even make Russian Helos in Mexico. This will be very good for Mexico as several countries in Central and south america use Russian helos and shipping to mexico for the work would be cheaper than shipping to Russia.
