Hey guys, I really, really need some help from the history experts here, and if you answer the question, pleasure be sure you're accurate, and if you can get a link to a site where the information is confirmed I'd very much appreciate it, thank you. In French and Indian war, British defeated the French and took all it's forts in the land that we now call United States, and chased the French up to Canada, and beat the crap out of them in some major cities like Quebec, New Orleans and Montreal. Now, why didn't the British take New Orleans for themselves? According to my teacher and his strategic thinking, New Orleans was important city to own, but British didn't take it. Or something like that.... anyways, Tane Angel, you seem like a pretty smart guy around here, if you could help out bro, thank you very much.

That web site references the battle for New Orleans between the U.S. and the UK at the end of the war of 1812.

Seizing New Orleans really wasn't a priority for the British. In North America, the struggle was aminly over control of the Saint Lawrence River and Ohio River valley, and the geography of where the fighting took place reflects this.

One could argue, btw, that the French and Indian War was just a theater in the 7 years war, which was fought between the British and French (and various allies) in Europe, North AMerica, the Carribean, and Asia. It was really the first global war.

Here's a link that might be useful.
