With rain comes mud and when I played the mud got everywhere, including my rifle and I just havent cleaned my rifle since then.

Okay, I agree that is a bad habbit to not clean my weapon especially with my enlistment into the Marine Corps, but right now I am not in the Marine Corps and am not held to the same standards. It is my fundemental right of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness that I exercise when I play airsoft. Do I think I am a real soldier or Marine when I play? No, is it better than sitting on my ass and playing videos games? Yes. Just because I play airsoft doesnt make me a lazy over wieght wannabe. I respect you and those who serve and I am eager to serve my country as well but when you come over to the airsoft section of these boards and start making fun of airsofters by sterotyping them and assuming you know them is just wrong.

That's a little like the 1st and 2nd line gear I'd carry on a 2-3 day "hike" out in the boonies, minus the existance load. Except I used to carry a Mini-14.

Yeah I totally know what you mean. We have the same problem where I play, only the terrain is so different that the kids bunching up in the same spot is less visible to you ;)
What I really meant with my post it seems to me like your place would be ideal for some paint ball, it's so straight forward.

But we all play where we can, not where we want to. I'd love to play in an abandoned suburban area with shrub fences, ditches, houses, yards and roads plus some suburban woods. It would be ideal for airsoft: the actual area could be very big, but you couldn't see the enemy a mile away and could only open fire in distances from 20 to 40 yards :P

If you haven't already, you should check out the Town Assault games in the UK, they used MOD sites including the Copehill FIBUA training site which is essentially a small town. Unfortunately the last one in the TA series has been, but considering how successful they were I assume they'll start a new series in due course.

How many checkpoints have you been on and for how long? All I am saying is that I'm finding it really hard to find any reason to voluntarily reenact a TCP. I've been on enough of them to know that I wouldn't be doing it for fun but maybe thats just me.

The whole point of reenactment (At least in my area-northwest europe) is to accurately (or as accurately as possible) portray what everyday life was like for a US/Brit/Belgian/Dutch/whatever/German soldier in WW2 or a US/VC soldier in Vietnam. We dó wear all ranks and insignia, because without them, it would look pretty retarded when doing film work, which we dó. Theres also the organisational aspect that has to be factored in. When someone needs to see someone who knows what's going on, he just goes to the guy with three stripes on his sleeve. That's pretty much why rank insignia are worn. Unit patches are worn because when you portray a certain unit (for example the 104th infantry during the liberation of Holland) you need them to show to people who you "are" even though at that point unit patches often disappeared from field uniforms for security reasons.

Nearly all ww2 and vietnam vets approve of what we are doing(and they help us out a lot!), and to us that is more important than the opinion of a modern Army soldier. To me, airsoft and reenactment cannot be compared. Reenactment is where you spend countless nights going through drill commands to get them perfectly right for that remembrance ceremony a few times a year.

I know this is most likely a stupid question, but I am not an avid airsofter. In a mock battle how do you determine who is hit? In paintball you have a giant splat, is it all on honor and merit?

In paintball; there's paint. In Airsoft, there are little balls that sting you when you get hit. A hit is often detirmined by a loud "****" coming from the recieving end. :) In Reenactment, it's a honor system. You're not in cover when there are 20 people shooting MG's at you? You are sure as hell dead.

I've got an Echo 1 M4 Stag 15

Cool. I would have had an Echo 1 M4 RIS but Airsplat screwed up and sent me a JG. Which does not have the PEQ box I wanted, and I have to buy crane stock batteries for it. They are a PITA to find under $40. If I got the Echo, I would use a PEQ box battery or just put it in the foregrip.

Aeros15 I has almost been a year. At first I didn't care but come time to get a new battery I though "This is just effin great". Plus I got it after a month of problems with airsplat. If I sent it back (My dad would never let me) I would most likely go through that again. Actually I just got my sniper rifle and had to wait 3 weeks for the scope and rings to arrive. They were supposed to be with the rifle.

Meh, I stopped looking for $15 ones. I really don't want to deal with Kryloned vests, and that is the cheapest one I can find. Now I am thinking psuedo-quasi MFR.

Jameson, there's another unit in the LAPD you should look into. I don't remember what they are called but they are a mobile undercover mixed with tactical support unit that fights street crime. I read about them in a Guns & Weapons magazine a few months ago and if your interested, and if I can find the magazine, I can PM you some scanned pictures and even articles if you want.
