Soviet army were prepared for WW3
And all this stuff have no use today.
Tanks and APCs have radiation, biological and chemical protection but for whom this helps in Chechnya?

:cantbeli: Yeah, but imagine if Iraq would realy had ABC Weapons?(and this was the reason for this War)
We would have now thousands of Dead GIs and Tommys because the NATO Tanks are not enough prepared for WMD.(expact the German "Fuchs" and remember how the US standed on to have some of them in Kuwait)

Thanks for the link, I was looking for that website.
To me personally, it seems that NBC protection is a good idea (even though it does increases price of hardware), esspecially since chemical weapons are easily produced.

"i never realised how large BTRs are, those things are prolly bullet magnets."

I doubt it is bullets that will be the problem. The wheeled APCs in Russian service are not designed to fight with the troops... they tend to drop of troops and withdraw to cover their dismounted infantry, much the same way BMP-1/-2/-3s are designed to do. The next gen BMP-4 based on a T-55 chassis is intended to remain with the troops offering direct support.

Experience in the Falklands war with the huge LVTP-7 (I think that is their designation) that the Argentines used being knocked out with 66mm LAWs suggests the BTR is not the worst in that respect.

Well then, no body wants to be caught unprepared, right?
Like for example you wouldnt step out of your house in certain areas without being suitably armed, for instance?

You certainly wouldnt want to be caught unprepared when NBC weaps are used against you. So, be safe, not sorry.
