Bush endorsement a fitting tribute

The Sun is to be commended for its endorsement of George W. Bush for re-election to the presidency. How fitting that the flagship paper in the congressional district where Kerry was handed his first defeat for public office should be the one to call for his defeat in (hopefully) his last run for public office.
We can only hope that Kerry's "return" to Massachusetts will be in such disgrace that he is humiliated into resigning his Senate seat or retiring at the end of his current term.

The clear-seeing among us here in Massachusetts apparently including your editorial board have known John Kerry to be a phony and a fraud for years, and every time he opens his mouth on the campaign trail even more discover the same. May he campaign long and hard between now and the election, to ensure that all but the most wild-eyed anybody-but-Bush crowd come down on the side of The Sun and support the president in his re-election bid.

Sept 28, 2004 (AXcess News) Crawford TX - A newspaper in President Bush's small adopted hometown of Crawford, Texas, has endorsed his Democratic opponent, John Kerry, for president.

In an editorial published Tuesday, the weekly Lone Star Iconoclast criticized President Bush's record on Iraq and the economy.

The paper, also denounced Mr. Bush's handling of Social Security and Medicare.

It urged Texans not to rate candidates by their hometown or political party, but by where each intends to take the country.

The Lone Star Iconoclast said it had endorsed Mr. Bush in the 2000 election.

by endorsing a political candidate it automatically void's itself of being a news service. The news should be unbias and objective. It's goal is to provide the facts and let the reader/viewer make up thier own mind. The second they take sides is the second they become media whores

Do you live in Far Far Away? Of course a newspaper have that right to have a political stance. People tend to like that particulare newspaper that endourse their view.

Nothing wrong with that, as long as they dont hide their true face.

Journalists are human being with opinion just like you and I.

You talk as if that's how it's supposed to be. It isn't. The problem with the press right now, is that it's all one big editorial. The press isn't supposed to endorse political stances, because they're the only thing we have to inform us with truthful information to help keep politicans in check. What good is press when it's only an extension of a certain politican or party? It's not a hard thing to report the truth, corporations just don't tend to care. The truth is boring, and it doesn't sell subscriptions.

Edit: I also want to point out the obvious fact that the printed media isn't nearly as "corrupt" as the televised news, but endorsing politicians only further degrades itself.

News journalists should be using neutral language in their reports. That's a constant struggle to suppress their own opinion though.

And its boring. IMO, today's audience want reports that are like entertainment. I don't think you can accomplish this without revealing bias. Once you show bias the audience will divide itself and gravitate towards that which makes it feel better about its own views.

Medias need to compete with each other for advertising dollars. The only way to compete with so many competitors is to carve out your own niche.... appeal to an audience of your own. This should mean appealling to interests such as sports, hobbies, or demographics such as age, gender, etc. Showing political bias is one way of doing this unfortunately, intentional or not.
