Ousted Iraqi president Saddam Hussein has reportedly been in secret negotiations with US forces for the past nine days.

According to the Sunday Mirror report, Saddam was demanding safe passage to the former Soviet republic of Belarus in exchange for information on weapons of mass destruction and his bank accounts.

US President George W Bush was being kept up to date on the talks by his national security adviser Condoleeza Rice who was coordinating negotiations led by US general Ricardo Sanchez, the Sunday Mirror said.

Sanchez is the commander of US forces in Iraq.

"A representative of Saddam in Western-style civilian clothes came to coalition people at Tikrit at sunset on September 12. He led them to a house where the security official was waiting," the Sunday Mirror quoted a senior Iraqi as saying.

"The discussions are now going on under the direct authority of General Sanchez," the source said, according to the newspaper.

The source maintained that Saddam had decided to seek a deal "because he is desperate, trapped and finding fewer and fewer people willing to give him shelter," the tabloid said.

Regardless of what they are telling him, there aint no way he is coming out of this alive or free from being jailed. One way or another, he will pay for his actions against the Iraqi people for the past three decades.

I'm assuming that it will be an Iraqi court that will try him for crimes against his country or will this be done at the Hague?Under War crimes?

Would this also not be the case that 75% of his council will all be viewed the same way,and also held accountable.
Again are we also to believe that Saddam is the ONLY one ,who knows anything about the whereabouts of WMD?

i thought by now we would have beat drugged slapped and zapped certain officials for the info already. i knw its illegal but i also know we do certain things, specially for political reasons. ah well. maybe its because they were taken prisoner under watchfull eyes. **** saddam, let him talk to a gat, or better yet his own people. or if this is a huge profile thing he'll be jailed and get loved like he loved so many women.

is this for real? dang, i havnt seen any of this coverage on any american news channel......

I agree SOG,
Are we really just being "really nice" to Chemical Ali,and "Dr Germ and the rest of these cohorts............that they are refraining from telling the truth.............................or are we really in for a real shock and it simply is the truth, there are no Physical WMDs?
Hey for $25 million bucks,I'd be singing like a lintie, smoking cuban cigars, with some stunning female company,on a secluded beach in the tropics...............just to tell the world what they want to hear.
Or the plain facts are ...................there are no WMDs in Iraq, and have not been for sometime!!
