two things:

today the airforce let loose it's largest non-nuclear weapon. A 21,000 lb. bomb (that's ten and a half tons.) in florida today. It seems that the AF is making it well known so potential enemies know what's next to be fitted with a JDAM unit :)

Also...Iran may be next on the chopping block. The US is starting to accuse the Iranians of trying to develope nukes at this facility: (aint it cool how these CIA photos show up in the news? :) )

Any think the 230,000 + American and 50,000 or so Brits might keep going through Iraq and on into Iran? I'm sure the Iranians are starting to shake in their boots a little.

Well this sort of thing is the main reason I support the war. I'm not afraid of weapons of mass destruction, im afraid of the people trying to get them. In order to put a stop to it as well as terrorism, we have to change the middle east. When the US has taken over Iraq for example, Iran will have opponents on pretty much all sides of its country, on one border there is Afghanistan with the US in control, on another there is Iraq and the US will control that, then theres Turkey on another border.

If Iraq was a free democratic and secure country like our countries, I wouldent care whether they had WMD or not, because I would know they wouldent be a threat and they wouldent give them to terrorists. But the reality is that the middle east is full of these maniac regimes.

The reason the terrorists are so capable is because of the countries supporting them, they get weapons, manpower, protection, financing, etc from countries like Syria, Iran, Lebanon, Libya, Saudi Arabia, etc and thats why the middle east must change if we are going to defeat terrorists. Simply taking out a few lead terrorists every now and then isnt going to do much, they will just be replaced with another 10 more! But if those countries I mentioned did not support them, then they would always be on the run with little capability and wouldent really be a problem!

Well, theres my analysis of the situation, I'm Sulph8, reporting for militaryphotos.net

Iran is not a complete democracy but compared to the Arab countries it is much better. The ones in Iran supporting all this terrorism is in their government. When the US intends to deal with Iran it wont be militarily, they cant invade it like Iraq. Iraqs people most likely will welcome the US, they live in poverty and filth with no rights. In Iran its different, they dont want to be invaded and they are much better off then the Iraqis. The US will most likely use diplomatic pressure and try to help the Reformist movement. Because Iran's people are very educated and about 2 thirds of the population are quite young, the government cant control them like in those other countries. I think all it will take is time for Iran and I think that it may very well bring about complete democracy on itself.

At about 9,500kg this new bomb isn't all that amazing. The Russians used FAB-9000 bombs several times over Afghanistan, and the results were not what was expected.
It is called the laws of diminshed returns. A single very powerful bomb is very useful against a hardened target that lighter bombs might not destroy, but for area targets like troops 9,000kgs of smaller lighter bombs spread over the target area would be more effective than one single 9,000kg bomb... hense the use of cluster bombs and carpet bombing.

Also with nuclear weapons three 5KT bombs spread over one city will do more damage than one 20KT bomb in the middle of the city.

I think the purpose of the MOAB is just that: destruction of heavily hardened targets (perhaps deep bunkers?).

You also have to realize that, when dropped in and around troops, and bomb like that would COMPLETELY demoralize any troops near the blast that weren't killed.

We should test on Iran's nuclear research facilities
