Here a rebel venezuelan marine, wounded during a firefight against the goverment troops, is asking the a navy priest to save him, his actual words were "Ayudeme padrecito"........a moment after, the priest witdrew from the area because of intense machine gun fire, the soldier was killed soon after.......

this happened during a sublevation against the goverment of the naval base of Pt. Cabello (1961), the insurgents took the base and occupied the city which is the most important naval port in the country, goverment forces however acted promptly and with the help of accurate air power dominated the situation in a three days of house by house combat.....

Rantanplan,

Get a life instead of "policing" the boards. It was a good post. You added nothing, zip, zero, nada...... Perhaps you should police yourself!

well the deal was that, back then there was a great deal of soviet influence in some medium ranked officers, some of them coordinated a sublevation in the base which took place june 2 1962, they took power of the base as well as the port and the airport in the city.....also some other strategic enplazements were taken by the rebels who were approximately about 1000 sailors and marines, with other 500 guerrillas who they libered from the citys federal prison......when the goverment realized what was going on, sent a armored units, as well as an infantry batallion and an airborne company(special forces), joined to this was a detachment of the national guard composed of about 800 men....as soon as the goverment forces approached the city, the rebels withdrew to the center of it, where it would be more difficult for the tanks to move and they would more protection..............air force planes bombarded the rebel positions, as it did two destroyers sent to the area, meanwhile, a detachment of armored vehicles and infantry soldiers made its way toward the center of the city in a frontal attack, the flanking maneuver was left to the airborne company and the national guard whose mission was the retake control of the airport and the port...........the infantry soldiers where most of them covering themselves behind the tanks and armored vehicles, mostly in stick of 20 per tank, the rebels taking advantage of this tactical mistake, seted up an ambush in the alcantarilla corner...they let the first tank go throught with its 20 soldiers behind them, and when the second tank passed, they opened fire, bodies fell to the floor and hell broke loose in that place...........

yeah thanks for the pic and the story.

hmm.. im always getting sceptical when those stories are told. i mean would the priest really tell THAT truth (that he retreated and left the soldierto die)? i have my doubts. maybe its just a made up story to an intense picture, who knows...
